It’s since been taken down because of social media outrage, but taking it down doesn’t fix the real issue. Who’s educating the staff and administrators that allowed it to go up? Who’s educating the kids on why this is WRONG? Hopefully not the staff that thought it was ok to put it up. Quotes like these are HARMFUL to everyone. We have to stop brainwashing our young girls that they can control boys behavior and we have to stop brainwashing our boys that they have no control over their own behavior. There’s a popular quote that says “the only person’s behavior you can control is yours” and we all seem to believe that until it comes to the behavior of men and boys as it relates to women and girls - especially in cases of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and harassment. Then all of a sudden it’s the victims fault. What was she wearing? Why didn’t she leave? Was she drinking? Why did she go there? She’s attractive, what did she think would happen? If she would just act more like a lady then he would act like a gentleman.... It goes on and on. And if the victim is male or LGBTQ it’s even worse. STOP making one person responsible for the behavior of another. Stop making survivors responsible for the behavior of perpetrators. Stop saying “boys will be boys” and making girls responsible for those boys behavior. Do your part to create a better society for all of our children. We are each responsible for our own behavior.
