Slack Wyrm #539
Hello. I know this is waaaay too late but I just stumbled upon your post about Saitama not wanting anything to do Flashy Flash and felt like I need to point out that he’s actually talking about Sonic, not Flash (referencing what Flash said earlier about Saitama and Sonic’s fates being “connected”). It’s just ONE yet again parodying anime protags and their fateful rivals lol.
Oh! Let’s have another look and see – I’m always willing to see.
It’s true that Saitama starts off going to visit Sonic, but it looks to me like Saitama’s talking about doing something about Flash:
And when Genos asks why Saitama is going to see Sonic, Saitama explains that it is so that he can take Sonic’s sword and give it to Flash.
Why?
So that he would be square with Flash. It’s Flash he’s settling affairs with, not Sonic.
Why?
So then there’s no longer a connection between them. We settle up with people when we no longer want to have any ongoing relationship with them. What Saitama is proposing to do to Sonic is the opposite of settling up: he’s committing a crime against him by stealing his sword and thus giving Sonic a reason to carry on having a grievance against him.
I appreciate your message, Anon, but I think Sonic is going to be an ongoing nuisance in Saitama’s life for a while yet! :)
PS: It’s never late to ask -- I’ve only been on Tumblr since 2018!
