A Meeting of Minds: Toria and Louis
“You look stunning, Toria.” I heard Louis’ voice behind me.
He came to stand next to me and it was only then I noticed he was wearing a Victorian outfit as well, complete with brocade swallow tail coat and pocket watch with a chain. “The party is great. It’s been a while since I set foot in one of these places, and it was never for a fun occasion. Care for a dance?”
He held out his gloved hand and I placed mine in his.
Louis is a man of many talents. Dancing is way up there on the list.
“I know what you are doing,” he whispered in my ear. “It’s gotta stop. Hunting the humans in the shadows, out at sea, in board rooms and wherever else they meet to spill their hatred upon this world. This is not the way.”
“Try and stop me.” I said, smiling.
“Oh, but far from me to want to stop you. I’m here to suggest a more effective way, which won’t even require you to give up your newfound pastime. It will take them a long time to understand… and they might kill one another before they do.”
“Go on,” I said, interested.

More often than not, we feel that our ruin will offend the others’ eyes. What joy it is then, to find someone who gazes into your darkness and sees a Gothic cathedral whose halls they cannot wait to discover. Bats, cobwebs and all.
