Ah, to have a demon steal someone’s soul for their convoluted purposes OR to have a simple mortal surprise everyone by choosing to help? I’m not even on page 10 of my new manuscript and such are the questions that arise.

Just a preview of my next story... Hmmm, fancy a guess what it's about? And while you're here, please consider following your friendly neighbourhood gothic author 🐺⚔️🌹👀🌃🌕👻🧛♂️ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_z7Un1lNpu/?igshid=1qiwps51iyack
More often than not, we feel that our ruin will offend the others’ eyes. What joy it is then, to find someone who gazes into your darkness and sees a Gothic cathedral whose halls they cannot wait to discover. Bats, cobwebs and all.
from “Embers: Evil rising”
I’m so happy :) “Embers: Evil rising” is my first novel and I’m so proud of this modern, dark fantasy tale with Gothic accents. I hope you will check it out and enjoy it. (click on the pic above to be taken to the paperback book - if this is not your Amazon marketplace, just search “embers: evil rising” on amazon and it will show up on the Amazon marketplace you are in - I’ve made it available worldwide). The Kindle book version can be found here: Embers: Evil rising on Amazon Kindle I’d be very grateful for reviews, feedback and support of any kind. Read the book, and if you enjoy it, tell others about it too. :)
Life as a contemporary gothic author be like... Did you check out my Gothic novel, Embers: Evil rising? Because you totally should. It’s a pretty big book, and it makes a fantastic excuse for getting away from awkward family gatherings where Uncle Will announces he is still a racist and your mum won’t get off your d**k about when you are having kids. It’s also available as a digital download, excellent for reading on the loo, at lame parties and on airports between flights.
Until the new moon rose, I was the most dangerous living thing in our world, but I’ll be damned if her apparition didn’t chill me to the core. She looked substantial and real, just like anyone else who might stroll through the cemetery at night. Only the soft glow enveloping her skin and clothes alike betrayed her true nature.

This and Studio Ghibli sending a katana with a note that said “no cuts” to Weinstein when he was handling the distribution of Princess Mononoke are now my two favorite movie anecdotes
legends
Why is it always Viking Metal and never Viking Rap, Viking Funk, Viking Jazz, or Viking Reggae?
Funk, Jazz or Reggae are unlikely because of the eras when these genres appeared not being contemporary with the Viking age of glory and conquest. But Viking Rap should definitely be a thing, since historically the Vikings were known to engage in loud and entertaining staged arguments, battles of wit and roasts… you know, like rap battles today. And, to answer your question, “why always Viking Metal”, I think it’s because for some reason many Scandinavian people seem to be really into metal and their cultures harken to the Vikings one way or another.
Do androids think of humans as gods, because we created them, or do they look at us as imperfect, unfinished drafts of their advanced selves? Do they see the immense capacities they have as a godlike attribute or do they regard the ineffable and multifaceted human nature as something impossible to map completely and therefore worthy of respect and awe? I think of Gunhild and how she relates to her human, the Major, in my cyberpunk novel “The Long Way Home”. She knows how powerful she is, and she knows how humans work. She finds the Major’s tenderness for technology endearing and a good quality to have. To him, she is a companion, an equal, more competent at some things than him. To others, who view her as an object, she is a dormant threat. I do not believe androids want to become humans. I think androids wish they could upgrade humans.

A Meeting of Minds: Toria and Louis
“You look stunning, Toria.” I heard Louis’ voice behind me.
He came to stand next to me and it was only then I noticed he was wearing a Victorian outfit as well, complete with brocade swallow tail coat and pocket watch with a chain. “The party is great. It’s been a while since I set foot in one of these places, and it was never for a fun occasion. Care for a dance?”
He held out his gloved hand and I placed mine in his.
Louis is a man of many talents. Dancing is way up there on the list.
“I know what you are doing,” he whispered in my ear. “It’s gotta stop. Hunting the humans in the shadows, out at sea, in board rooms and wherever else they meet to spill their hatred upon this world. This is not the way.”
“Try and stop me.” I said, smiling.
“Oh, but far from me to want to stop you. I’m here to suggest a more effective way, which won’t even require you to give up your newfound pastime. It will take them a long time to understand… and they might kill one another before they do.”
“Go on,” I said, interested. ****

The forest around Sevenbridge
Amazing news: My Novel is finished!
With the working title of “Embers: Evil Rising”, it’s currently at 300 pages+.
A quick editing period now follows and then I’m ready to take it out into the world. It’s unhinged, evil, unapologetic and full of dark humour and social critique.
