2nd book read this year: The Boneless Mercies by @apriltucholke I’ve been looking for books with less romance and more ambience, and this Beowulf retelling fit perfectly with what I was looking for! It’s slower to what I’m used to but so much more immersive. Like, I went ahead and bought the next book because the setting fit perfectly with what I want in stories. I liked the world building better than the characters. Beowulf-wise, I can’t tell you much, because it’s been years since I read it (the graphic novel version 😭) and I don’t remember it. Anyways, if you’re looking for a gritty, immersive retelling with female mercenaries, this is up your alley!
