Air rushed into your lungs - burning, searing pain as they moved for the first time in what felt like years. Your chest was on fire, yet your limbs screamed in protest as you tried to move them to grasp at it, to claw helplessly as they expanded and contracted and fell back into rhythm- no, one arm. One was missing, the metal shattered at the elbow. Everything was dark, you could feel your eyes darting around behind their lids, but no part of you wanted to move an inch.

Slowly, painfully, you forced your eyes open, light flooding your vision from the moons above. Your back felt wet, your shirt clinging to it. Using your good arm, you pushed yourself over and up, coming to rest on your knees. The sight before you was grisly - a lot of blood, all of it bright red. Who's was this-

You stop for a second. What kind of a question was that? You woke up in a puddle of the stuff, clearly its yours.

Staggering to your feet, you surveyed the scene better. Your head was killing you. Whatever happened, you must have taken a nasty blow to the head. Did that happen before or after your arm was destroyed? You had no idea. And, you thought, maybe it's best you don't remember that.

Letting out a heavy sigh you hadn't known you were holding, you looked around. You had no idea where the hell you were. Getting home was going to be a nightmare.

You went to take a small step, but your foot brushed against something. Glancing down, you see a violin, soaked in the same blood that coated the area- no, no, your violin, it was your violin. You grabbed its neck carefully, doing your one handed best to clean it off on what little of your clothing wasn't also blood soaked.

You shook your head - a mistake, ow - to try and clear it a bit. Your thoughts were racing but none of them made any sense. Sonati must have been having a hard time-

Sonati? Who was-

You froze in place. Who was SONATI? Are you serious? How the hell could you forget who SONATI, of ALL trolls, was?

There was a brief moment where that question reverberated through your head before it connected to something else - something that made your stomach twist into a painful knot. You quickly brought the instrument up to your face - your vision still wasn't perfectly clear so it was hard to see - your eyes darting over the various carvings across its surface. These carvings - names, they were names - flooded your mind, reading each and every one of them - and not a single one of them registered. They were just names - you knew they were supposed to have meaning, why didn't they have MEANING - names etched onto the surface of an otherwise pristine violin.

You were shaking. You fell back to your knees, the violin dropping out of your hand and landing at your side.

You couldn't remember them. The one thing you swore you would never do.

You swore you would never forget them. As you ran for your life, you swore up and down each and every name would forever mean something to you. And you could not remember them at all now.

You glanced down at your remaining arm. The blade built into it has extended already. Your shaking slowed. You closed your eyes.

"Oi!! Sev!!"

Your eyes shoot open. You're in the Ruins. Eclesi is sitting across from you, a concerned expression on full display on their face.

You look down. In one hand, a glass of something, very obviously alcoholic. The other arm has its blade extended.

The silence hangs in the air for an uncomfortable amount of time before Eclesi breaks it once again.

"...Y'good, Sev?"

"...Yes. Sorry. Just a nerve firing when it should not have."

You let out a small sigh as you retract the blade, and bring the glass to your lips.

And, you think, maybe it's best you don't remember that anymore.

Sevenn, how the fuck did you get "lolcat" to be a banned word?

“So, it is actually from one of my more controversial works, titled  ‘I Can Has Equal Rights: A Treatise on Why the Spectrum Sucks in Lolmeowbeast Form’. Had to pose as a highblood to get the damned thing published in the first place, but it exists in the world though few stores are willing to sell it.

Anyway, the ideas laid out within it are, understandably, very controversial takes on why the hemospectrum is a very flawed and weak system that can only be upheld by violence. If you were to, say, take away the subjuggulators from society, and put laws in place to prohibit senseless murder, it is very likely that the system would crumble because all of a sudden, the majority of the support structure it once had is gone. Obviously there lies the issue of ingrained hemoism and having to deal with the nonviolent side of things, but people not dying is, I believe, a cornerstone of society.

Of course, since most highbloods are usually too blind to this issue, I decided to make it easier to understand. Many people know the “Lolmeowbeast” memes online, so the entire book is written with very helpful pictures I have cleverly edited to better emphasize the points made within.

For example, going back to that violence concept, there is the classic ‘I can has cheeseburger?’ image that kickstarted the meme to begin with, except I have edited it to be a highblood, with a lowblood under... foot. Paw. Whatever. And instead, it says ‘I can has legal violence?’

Obviously the empire was not... Thrilled with this, and so most of the time, ‘lolmeowbeast’ is considered a rebel hotbed, and will be investigated by imperials. So, in reality, it is a win win, because I got a controversial book published, and I am wasting imperial resources. Go me.’

“As much as I would have loved to publish it under my actual name, a few friends of mine strongly advised against doing so. Given that I am trying to... Lay low more often now, I decided to go under a penname for this one.

The name I used was Sereia Tuulan. For once, there is no sentimentality connected to this name. I just made it up.

However, this stays between us, yes.”

“Well, for one it is because I have so much trauma I may as well be five different people, and I feel bad as it is dumping any of it on one person. I am also not a believer of being so closed off in relationships that you must limit yourself to only one person, especially if you find you click with others. As long as you are mindful about it all, and respect boundaries, there is no problem with having more than one partner at a time.
