if i had a nickel for every trio of ocs ive created where character A—mspec, has a light and/or colorful color palette, charismatic, tall, and masculine—used to date character B—also athletic, but shorter, with a darker color scheme, and longer hair—and they broke up but stayed on good terms and remained friends, and then A met character C—shorter than A, dark hair, more reserved—got a crush on C, B helped them get together BUT theres lingering feelings on B’s end partially bc it was their first real relationship but theyre still happy for A. AND ive considered making them a throuple. AND one of them is arospec. AND they have a romance averse aro friend. i would have two nickels. Which isnt a lot but its weird that ots happened twice

For any three OCs you feel like talking about: What are their opinions on tattoos?

Ooh

So im gonna start with Alex Evdrin! From By The Blade, so fae lived during the Age of Independence in Edivitaer (my Original Fantasy World)

Fae’s human but was raised by Druids—fae’s parents are from the central-northern part of the Coast, which is the region where tattooing originated in Edivitaer

despite it being a p common practice where fae’s from, Alex isnt all that big on the idea! Fae actually has a pretty trash pain tolerance, and stuff like that—causing trauma to your body for aesthetic reasons—isnt all that appealing to Druids, whos whole belief system is based around causing as little harm as possible. That sentiment rubbed off on faer a lot, so they kinda avoid the practice out of principle

then there’s Ariyana, whos also from the Coast, but the southern-most part of it instead. She also lived in the Normal Age, about a thousand years later than Alex

so sailing is a Pretty Big Thing for the coastal countries, since fish is their main export. It has been for a while. So sailors are p common, and the coast’s general culture was also greatly influenced by the culture of seafarers. Including tattooing practice

Ariyana’s mom is a sailor, and she’d got a very intricate storm scene on her arm, plus a wedding band from when she married ari’s dad [bc jewelry is easily lost and hard to recover from the bottom of the ocean]

bc she associates tattoos w her mom and her home culture, Ariyana sees them as Really Cool Special Things that she hopes to get someday! She’s been brainstorming ideas for her first one for years and her dad is planning on helping her get one the next time they visit the Coast :]

Bell is an underclassman than Ariyana adopted bc queer solidarity. She’s more neutral on the idea of tattoos—one of her parents is born and raised in the centerlands, where this story takes place, the other is an immigrant from the South.

tattooing isnt all that common in the part of the centerlands that theyre in bc its so far north but the practice did spread to the south and kinda took on its own connotations there, as a religious display. Bell isnt all that religious, but her parents are and she’s inclined to get a tattoo of some sort, something symbolic for her, as both a nod to that and as a way to make a mark on her body, to make it more *hers,* bc she did have body image issues growing up and that would be a healing thing for her, to turn part of herself into a piece of art worth admiring. So shes not alien to the idea, and it isnt something thats Huge for her but she likes the idea and the possible applications
