I don't think it could be canon, especially after Book of Bill, but what if The Creature Who's Name Must Never Be Spoken/Xanthar was a lovecraftian 3 dimensional being that called Bill's dimension home before it was destroyed. Maybe he/it was out of town so to speak when The Euclydia Incident occured. I don't know exactly what gave me this headcanon, but I like the idea of bth how much of a mind fuck and power move for Bill it would be if one of the henchmaniacs was a feared mythological creature. Imagine destroying your universe (accidentally or otherwise), finding yourself floating alone in the Inbetween, then you turn aroud and see Cthulhu with a look of abject terror on his face.

there's definitely canon backing for this part of the headcanon. TBOB does describe Xanthar as "Xanthar: Lovecraftian god/getaway vehicle."
Personally I've headcanoned since before TBOB that Xanthar is a lovecraftian apocalypse god and that Bill likes keeping him around because of what a power move it is to call a god one of his followers, so 🤝
I haven't been headcanoning him as a god from Bill's universe...
