All the fabrics, foam, and embellishments (minus the silver scale-textured pleather + blue seed beads, which I *did* purchase new for this) were pulled from stash :D This led to some interesting compromises, like

Having *just* enough grey chiffon & lamé for the sleeves and inverted-V of the undershirt ...and then the rest of the shirt (hidden) made of plain muslin, and

The trousers (not super visible here, unfortunately) being pieced together from three different fabrics, since I didn't have adequate yardage of any single cut for pants.

Is it practical for mud-tromping adventuring? No. Will you look super cool while casting eldritch blast, as powered by an unknowably abyssal Great Old One? YES.

I've been working on a new sewing project recently, based on McCall's M6044. It's a dress shirt! Might have to tailor the pattern a bit after I finish this first shirt, but I'm looking forward to being able to make custom dress shirts for myself.

Friend works for the San Diego Zoo and loves rhinos (she sends us photos all the time) and I pulled her for the gift exchange so beaded a rhino from a photo she took earlier this year.

Broke down and found someone on etsy who makes dresses on commission FUCK IT.

Still gonna finish this goddamn dress tho, out of sheer bloody mindedness. Plus it IS teaching me a lot so fuck it right? And if I lose enough weight to fit it someday, that's cool I have two dresses. If not? I'm sure I can give it to someone who might dig it, or donate it to the larp for costuming. It won't go to waste no matter what. <3

Welp. Got the pieces of the dress' bodice together.

...it's too small.

I wanna scream. It's too small in the waist I wanna fucking die I've gained so much weight over the past year and I feel so shitty and this was the biggest pattern I could find for a dress like this and my alteration worked but it WON'T FUCKING FIT

Trying not to cry rn I hate this I just wanna pay someone to make something that fits so I can stop and stop feeling so shitty fuck

Last shirt update for a little while! It's almost done-- all that's left is to attach the collar and sew buttons/buttonholes.

More collar detail below.

After I finish with the buttons, I'll probably do a bit of tailoring to ensure the final fit is a good one, and then this project will be done!

Made some good progress with the shirt project today! Fixed up the cuff from yesterday, did the bottom hem, and sewed on the left front band!

Next time, I'll plan on attaching the other front band and starting on the collar.

Today was kind of a rough sewing day-- I was planning to attach the cuffs to the shirt but the printed directions were a bit unclear, so I ended up having to redo several stitches.

Turns out that the reason for trimming the seams on the (interfaced) cuff interior is because otherwise finishing it with edge-stitching is nigh-impossible (the needle will simply not go through that many layers of fabric). Still, I got one cuff mostly done today, apart from attaching the button and sewing the buttonhole.

Will have to fix up the other one next time! This was the one bit of the pattern that didn't have a video tutorial, so I just had to learn by making some mistakes myself. It's nothing that a good seam ripper can't fix.
