We have been home 🏡 2 weeks since our summer road trip through New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana- over 4,100 miles traveled🚗. We came home to lots of unpacking, laundry, preparations for back to school and MAIL. Among the mountain of mail was the Autumn 2018 Somerset HOME issue - published by Stampington & Company. Always thrilling to see my work published! The creation of these heat transfer vintage flower seed illustration pillow came about as a MISTAKE 🤭 while creating the flour sack tea towels😂. Yep! Talk about making sweet lemonade 🍋😋. As usual, I was working late at night (or really early in the morning 2am). I was using the heat press to apply the images on the tea towel. I started making a few mistakes- I applied the heat transfer in the wrong direction on several tea towels. When I realized my errors 😲- I realized it was time to just go to bed 🛏😴. As a person who loves to repurpose materials I knew these “defective” tea towels could not be thrown or wasted. So I started playing with the idea of creating something else - Pillows. Since the flour sack material is too thin, I fused the tea towel material to warm and natural quilting cotton batting. Using #sewingillustration technique I created something I originally had no plans to make! The idea of how this late night mistake has now been published blows my mind away! @stampington #somersethome #somersethomemagazine #sewingillustrated #ironontransfer #heattransfer #heatpress #pillows #pillow #vintageinspired #publishedinmagazine #vintageflowerseedpackets #flowerseedcatalogue #coloradomade #handmade #isacreationsvintage #floursacktowel via @RiplApp (at Littleton, Colorado)
