It wasn't every day that Laxus trudged what must have been halfway across a forest to yell at a woman. At the same time, it was not every day that 'Mystogan' collapsed under ridiculous circumstances. Out of the ordinary actions sometimes caused individuals observing them to react in odd ways. When Laxus had gotten over looking like he had watched a dog take a dump in the middle of the arena (an appropriate summary of Fairy Tail's performance at large), he went looking for answers. 'Mystogan' remained tight-lipped on the matter, so he sought the answer elsewhere.
Natsu, meanwhile, gave him the answers he sought. Some woman called 'Ultear Milktea', along with some pink haired Meredy person had flanked him in his return. When pressed for information, the male informed him that they hung around some bridge. That had not helped him in the least, so he took to the forest. It was early in the evening when he picked up a scent of something that actually seemed human. He further trudged towards the sound, and once he caught a flash of black hair, he let out a verbal torrent that even surprised him in terms of intensity.
"What the fuck were you thinking? It wasn't bad enough that Fairy Tail got the shit end of the stick during the competition, but then 'Mystogan' suddenly collapses on the field? I'm not buying the sudden collapse of circumstance. You did this, and you're going to tell me why."

How had it come to this? Jellal had asked himself that question many times, and in many different situations. This particular situation was, perhaps, among the most not-threatening of them all. While Erza was known for her refined ferocity in battle more than anything, this was not a combat situation. She had slapped him across the face, yes, but that was due to a moment of stupidity. One that she had thankfully knocked out of him. He had to give Erza credit for that. The woman had quite the talent when it came to bringing Jellal back from the brink of ultimate stupidity, even if it took a while to actually do.
Perhaps that moment had left him vulnerable. Or, perhaps he was something of a klutz in Erza's company. However it occurred, the both of them had tripped over the loose rocks that he had chosen as a sitting ground. The fall might have been looked past, if it wasn't for the position that it left the two of them in. Erza was above him, straddling his waist, as her face moved closer and closer to him.
Panic set upon Jellal's mind, while his features remained decidedly calm. This was bad, really bad! She didn't know that he had a. . .well, thing, and she had no reason to stop. Was he without that one specific thing, the male might have raised his head to kiss her right back. There might have been feelings too, to make that action feel oh so much better. But, no, those feelings were all directed towards someone else. As a result of an absence of intimate feelings, he let a loud response spill from his lips, just before he touched his lips against Erza's own.
"I have a fiancee!"
Erza reared her head away at the last possible second, looking as shocked as could get. Twitches of awkwardness touched upon her flushed cheeks in turn, as Jellal felt equally embarrassed. Here he was, after a long reunion, shouting as if he saw a banshee. After the shock wore off, her look became one of question. The way she looked seemed to ask the question of how, who, and why it had happened. That was a fair look.
Jellal didn't quite know how that happened either, save that it did happen, and that he didn't regret it. He looked back to the past for a time, right back to where it all began. . .

The quiet of his cell was disrupted by the cries of the overseers. He at first thought that they were going to beat him, for yet another imagined slight. His starved body clenched up at the thought. Pain had been bred into him out of a thought that it would make him docile. It instead told him to resist those that beat him. It was the only thing that kept him sane, in lieu of the gaps in his memory.
Jellal sprang up to his feet, shifting to the side as the door encasing him flew off its hinges. If not for his quick thinking, he might have been broken under its own weight. Freedom was staring him in the face, and the man only knew one response to the offer. He ran for it, through the halls, and he glanced to the left and to the right rapidly. All around him were the signs of utter chaos.
Small, spherical things shifted all around the area at a rapid pace. Walls were blown apart, doors were dented and punctured open, while the guards were helpless to deal with the forces against them. Swords as well seemed to dart through the air, impaling even more of the prison force, but not killing them. Jellal felt his feet begin to move again, only for his path to be blocked by a sudden burst of rubble. The convict dropped to his knees, and crawled the other way.
That was how his makeshift escape seemed to go. Everywhere he looked, he could see either rubble, or the struggle of guards, and only one path to go towards. It appeared as though he was being lead somewhere, by someone who wanted to see him go free. He didn't quite know who it was, but he had to leave. He had to at least see who was behind all this.
His journey came to an end, when he was met with a thick wall. Jellal stared hopelessly at it for a moment, before it all went to pieces behind his eyes. An abandoned stretch of forest and mountain stood beyond it, with two mysterious figures standing not too far away. Jellal's eyes widened at the sight. The one with pink hair was a figure he did not recognize, but the black haired woman? His memory was still blank towards her, but he knew that he had been wronged by her in the past.
"If you've come for me," he intoned, weakly crouching into a fighting position. "I won't let you take me. I won't let you hurt anyone else using my body. I'll die before I let that happen. . ."
"Stop being selfish and feed my daughter."
"Excuse me, how am I being selfish? I will tend to her when necessary, and if she's hungry, she would let me know, and I'll feed her."

“I’ll try to calm the boy, alright? I can explain about him later. Just talk with Erza.”
"That's the plan, and you don't need to explain your thing with him if you don't want to. Being concerned about if you could or couldn't handle yourself would be hypocritical, given that I nearly blew our cover at the 'Games. I'll handle Erza, best of luck with the boy."
