Not really an ask, but I wanted to tell someone this idea:

The swapfell boys have a partner with a passion for origami. They love making a bunch of different paper animals & sometimes gifts them ones they’re the proudest of!

But for some reason they seem to have stopped one day. Partner claims that they just don’t have time to make animals anymore. Which is technically true, cause it turns out that they’ve been making a jar with 999 paper stars in secret just for them.

Apparently, depending on the number of stars you give, each represent something. Ex: 999= Everlasting love <3

This is really cute!! This would actually be especially meaningful to Dagger, since he’s also surprisingly good at origami (which i may or may not have forgotten about until this ask 💀 The last time I mentioned that was apparently in 2021 lol.) The importance of such a gift doesn’t really get to him until later. At first he only says thanks, maybe teasing his partner about being too sweet, but once he’s alone it hits him hard. He’ll walk back into his apartment, sit on the couch, and just hold the jar in his hands. The stars tumble over themselves as he turns it, thinking. Eventually he’s faced with the realization that you don’t go through that much time and effort for someone unless you really care about them—unless you plan to continue to care for them. Everlasting love… Suddenly Dagger is paying much more attention to his partner’s taste in jewelry.

Rus would like it a lot too, both because he’s sappy like that and because he appreciates art-oriented hobbies. 999 stars is a lot of time to spend on a gift for him! He’d put the jar up somewhere on a shelf where it won’t get lost or covered, possibly with some little lights wrapped around it. He’ll definitely forget it’s there after a while, but every time it happens to catch his eye he feels the same rush of affection as when he got it.

Mal thinks it’s a little cheesy. He appreciates the gesture, and the time put in, but there’s a part of him that feels like his partner could have used some of that to just spend more time with him! Regardless, he still keeps the stars on his desk at home.

Swapfell Gaster- It’s probably no surprise that Dagger doesn’t have the healthiest relationship with sex. He’s a major masochist, and a hugeee fan of hate sex. Dagger is also manipulative as fuck when he wants something.

He has a bad habit of being suave and charming to pick up people at the bar, then slowly becoming more and more of a prick the more they hookup. In other words, he’ll start a fuck-buddy or fwb relationship just to turn it toxic later because he’s into that.

It’s even worse when he actually likes someone. Dagger can’t handle being honest to himself about his own emotions—especially when the emotionally desire to have a person like him is conflicting with his sexual desire to have them treat him like shit.

In general, he wants his time in the bedroom to involve hurting him somehow. Hitting, biting, scratching, extreme temperature play, bondage that’s too tight, knife-play, etc. He can take it all too, or at least that’s what he says. Dagger does have a limit, and should be equipped with a safeword, but he doesn’t exactly put himself in situations where he has one.

But here’s a secret—aftercare matters so, so much to him. He’s used to pain and he wants to be broken down, but Dagger also deeply wants to be put back together afterwards. This is something he doesn’t even know until it happens. When it finally does, he’s lovestruck.

Swapfell Grillby- Singe is another monster that’s probably not the best choice for taking to bed. He’s unpredictable on the best of days, and unfortunately that can definitely make its way into the bedroom. One night Singe might a gentle, romantic lover, and the next he could be rough or forceful, focused on only his own pleasure.

At the very least, this is a flaw that Singe already recognizes in himself and he will warn any potential bedmate. It has to do with his magic, which is quite volatile compared to an average fire elementals. A sudden spike in his magic output (like being turned on, for example) can affect his thinking. Similarly, a significant release of magic (firing attacks, intensive physical movement, orgasm, etc.) can bring him out of such a state. Singe has fireproof bedding and defensive magic to use on his lover for this exact problem.

With a serious partner, Singe may ask for sex when he thinks his magic becoming unstable. On such occasions, he’ll likely be rough, but it’s preferable to him burning something down. If needed, once his mania wears off, he’ll give his partner extra attention to make up for it.

He’s also not always accurate in judging the state of his magic. Singe may choose to engage with a partner’s advances for sex without realizing is magic is acting up.

All this aside, Singe does have a fondness for quiet love. A partner being domestic for him is quite turn on, and he appreciates sweet, slow foreplay when he has enough control. A gradual wind up helps reduce the risk of his magic being too frazzled.

You want to turn him on? Be MEAN. Act like you fucking hate him because let’s be honest, he’s not a great guy, ESPECIALLY when he first meets someone.

If he thinks someone is attractive at first sight, he’ll flirt and tease and push until he gets his one nighter. If he actually likes someone? He’s a prick.

He’d be his usual cocky self, acting like he’s on top of the world, but the second his partner adjusts or moves him, or tells him to do something in the bedroom, he complies. No hesitation. He’ll complain or faux struggle, but he’s more than into it.

Full disclosure, I forget a lot of the headcanons I post, and I wasn’t able to find where I talked about Dagger crushing on Singe, but I do love me some grillster so I don’t doubt I said that lmao

Singe and Dagger had an agreement before Dagger fell into the void. It was purely physical from Singe’s side and Dagger never gave any indication that it was anything else. Neither monster is great with actual commitment and connection.

Since then, Singe became much closer with Mal and realized his feelings were more romantic than with Dagger.

How would Dagger be like as partner lol

That depends entirely on the situation. First of all, Dagger will avoid having a real partner at all costs. He is deathly afraid of any sort of commitment because he’s scared to lose everything again.

He’s more of a one night only kind of guy. If someone’s lucky, they’ll get a few nights. But an actual relationship? Absolutely not.

Of course, that doesn’t account for the fact that despite what he says, he does feel emotion. Which means he can catch feelings, even though he would rather die than admit it.

If someone manages to sift their way through all his traumas and get close to him for real, he’s like a whole different person. For one thing, he turns into a total pushover. Dagger goes from being snarky and making dirty jokes to quietly trailing after his partner, like a cat who follows you from room to room just to be in your space. He’d do whatever they ask. He’s also still very touch-y, but there’s no extra intent behind it, it’s just for the contact.

Dagger also starts involving his partner in his research, which he never does with anyone else. He’d love to spend hours explaining the details of how to pin and preserve insects. He’ll point out every different species he sees on a walk. It’s almost endearing how excited he gets about it.

He still acts exactly the same around everyone else though. The only change there is that he becomes ridiculously protective of his partner. Anyone who so much as looks at them wrong will regret it. It’s best if his partner tells him to tone it down before that gets out of hand.
