When Avery was in the cursed church :

Candles are lit

due to thet the room feels more inviting and cozy

also feels a bit smaller, like it is enveloping Avery in itself

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

When Derek is in the cursed church :

Candles are put out

due to that room feels colder and mor ominous

in contrast with Avery it feels bigger, backing away from Derek

Or it could just be the angles or the 3-d points
