Best parts of She’s Gotta Have It s2:
ANTHONY RAMOS SINGING OK. I thought that was his voice during the Clo/Mars sex scene and I was correct. And then his solo performance at the Hot N Trot was just WOWWWW.
All of the black artists, displaying their creativity in different forms of art.
Soooo many beautiful skin colors and body types.
Rosie Perez as Mars’ mother.
The maturity between Nola and her former lovers.
The beautiful portrayal of a wlw domestic relationship.
While on the subject, we have an actual GRAPHIC SEX SCENE between two female characters and it’s passionate, REALISTIC (not included for the pleasure of male viewers) intense, and soft.
Mars has a ways to go, but he’s actually grown up during the time jump between seasons, in terms of respecting Nola and her feelings, her choices.
Women of color, supporting one another’s business ventures, going out for drinks, thriving, living.
FUCK CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS.
Nola’s platonic, healthy relationship with her ex lovers who also supported her accomplishments with no ulterior motives.
Mars’ supporting Nola’s wlw relationship and queerness, he didn’t try to sexualize it, he didn’t hate on it, he just supported.
Mars’ actual father is MOOKIE!
Fat Joe’s “Winny”, fantastic comic relief, surprisingly tender and genuine with Mekka.
The HISTORY LESSONS. You can truly learn so much from this show.
LuLu and Mars’ sibling dynamic.
The epicness that was the actual filming of Purple People Party.
Once again I just have to talk about the black artists. It took a front seat this season, showing other artists outside of Nola, REAL LIFE ARTISTS, and it was beautiful to see.
Raqueletta Moss!
