Big gatherings definitely wasn’t Emily’s thing, neither was Thanksgiving really, she hadn’t celebrated it in years, usually she stayed at work to avoid the whole thing, though this time she had nothing to do at work and while she’d rather be at a bar she figured she should at least go and stay for an hour maybe two. “Honestly, I don’t see why people in this town keep throwing parties considering how most of them end.”

Mia followed her grandmother around the house for the better part of the evening. She came over early to help set up for the dinner and was just sent away to get dressed. After a quick shower, she got all dolled up and was touching up her make up when there was a knock on the bedroom door. She smiled calling out, “Come in! I’m almost ready. I just have to do a couple of finishing touches on my hair.”

Meredith strutted into the gala sighing. “Here we go again.” She was in no mood to mingle and as soon as she saw that bar she walked over to it. “Whiskey. On the rocks.” She stated curtly. She felt someone coming over to her and she rolled her eyes. “Awesome night isn’t it?” She sneered as she downed her glass.

“Is this not the most bittersweet event you’ve ever been to?” The girl asked walking her stroller along. “I feel kinda guilty don’t you?”

she'd given up on begging to see her mothers. no one was listening and she didn't think anybody was actually trying to get in contact with them to begin with. she felt in the bottom of her heart that had they been in surgery, someone would have contacted them to let them know their kids were involved in the ferry crash and they would have gotten someone to step in for them to make their rounds and see if they were all okay. at the moment, she was just sitting up in her bed, annoyed with all of the ivs and monitors she was hooked up to. but what she was really irritated with was the nurse that was unsuccessfully drawing blood. "can't you get someone else in here to do this? you're just making my arm really sore and it’s my writing arm. i have a really, really close relationship with god and he says that if you poke me one more time without hitting a vein, you're gonna go straight to hell and i'd hate to see that happen.”
