“Very, my dear Jo, very close. Close as in exact.” The bartender passed her another and she downed it as well.
“Well, I’m trying to speak it into existence.” Mer said sipping her drink.
meredcthgrey:
Meredith strutted into the gala sighing. “Here we go again.” She was in no mood to mingle and as soon as she saw that bar she walked over to it. “Whiskey. On the rocks.” She stated curtly. She felt someone coming over to her and she rolled her eyes. “Awesome night isn’t it?” She sneered as she downed her glass.
“It could be,” Lola smiled when she walked up beside her mother at the bar. “Martini, please. Dry,” she asked the bartender then looked back to her mother as she waited for her drink. “Are you just getting here?”
“Yeah, I know I’m super late.” Meredith said as she downed her whiskey. “Bartender, another.” She turned to her daughter once more. “How are you?”
Meredith strutted into the gala sighing. “Here we go again.” She was in no mood to mingle and as soon as she saw that bar she walked over to it. “Whiskey. On the rocks.” She stated curtly. Letting out a quiet sigh, Jacqueline found a spot to finally sit down. She’d pretty much lost track of any and all familiar faces, so solitude was going to have to suffice. She was mid-drink when a man came up to her, asking her a rather bold question. Jac could’ve sworn she recognized the man, and shot back a rather blunt, rude response. It was only when the man spat back about keeping his money to himself and leaving the gala that Jac realized he was a donor. A rather notable, slightly well-know, donor, none the less. Noticing someone walking up to her, someone who must’ve heard the entire interaction, Jac took a long drink of her wine. “That probably could’ve gone better,” she nodded. “Are you having a better night than I am?”
Meredith turned to the doctor and sighed. “Hey, he was rude, you retorted. Don’t worry, someone will get money outta him.” She dipped on her martini. ‘Huh. Well not quite yet. Only one drink in.”

Lexie was more than worried about Meredith. It wasn’t news anymore what happened, and she could only imagine how much the other woman was hurting. “No, I do.. I can pick it up just fine. But I’m your sister, Meredith, it’s my job to try and make sure you’re okay a-and to be here for you, so just.. let me do that. You don’t need to shut me out too, I’m on your side here,” she said.
“I-I’m sorry Lexie. But really, I’m handling this.”Meredith said shaking staring down at the papers.
Callie’s facial expression softens as her friend speaks again. “I’ve heard mumblings, but I thought I’d wait to hear directly from the source. So do you need me to kick his mc-ass then?” She asks, laying her hand softly on Mer’s shoulder.
“They wont leave me alone. Derek wants to...fix things. Addison has no remorse and really wants me to believe that I’m holding her back from her happiness...she didnt say it like that but thats how it’s coming across.”

“I know that he’s a cheating asshole,” Nerissa said. “I know that he told me he’d try to fix it,” she said. The younger girl went quiet for a moment. “But this can’t be fixed, can it?”
“I really wish it could, Ner.” Mer said with a weak smile. “Just...there’s a lot of history...i thought e were past all of it but apparently not.”
Meredith punched him playfully and rolled her eyes. “Well I’m fine…given the circumstances.”
“Fine? Yep. We’ll go with that”
“I’m still here for when you don’t want to be fine though, okay?”
“You know, she told me it was my fault. Addison. Who knew she was still in love with Derek this whole time. He harbored some feelings too.”
drmcdreamyshepherd:
“Look, I would rather suffer arguments and falling outs with you than get divorced,“ Derek told her. “How many men would do that? They would just walk out.“
“You get a free pass. I’m asking you to go. Go back to Addison so she can leave me alone. She has the nerve to say this is my fault. Like can you believe that? My fault. I’m done. It’s over. You fucked this beyond repair. Literally.’
montgomeryaddison:
“Me and Mark… It doesn’t matter what we did. We’re all still good friends now,” she said with a roll of her eyes. “The three of us have such strong relationships which is way more than I can say about you and Derek.”
Meredith was tired, and she sure as hell knew she didnt deserve this. Meredith knew she was gonna get more frustrated if she kept talking, and she didnt want to make matters worse. She moved to the furthest corner in the elevator and started reading texts from her kids.
aibhlinnmontgomery:
“So,” she said crossing her arms as she noticed the divorce papers in the woman’s hands. She pointed, “You and McDreamy calling it quits?”
“I’m trying to call it quits. He’s making it difficult.” She rolled her eyes at the thought of it.
montgomeryaddison:
“And of course, now you have nothing to say,” she huffed. “Only if you could’ve kept it in your pants thirty years ago, maybe Derek and I would still be married and you wouldn’t have to worry about getting cheated on.”
Meredith chuckled, “So you and Mark didn’t happen? Okay,” Meredith was really done with her now. “Someone sounds really salty. And honestly? It’s not my problem. You and him can work it now.” She shrugged as she sighed hoarsely.

Derek ran a hand through his hair. “I don’t want the house. I want you!” He told her. Derek was silent for a minute before looking back at her. “I am not going to give up that easily, if that is what you think.”
“Derek, just leave me alone okay? You don’t want to make tis easy, fine. Suffer me some more.”
meredcthgrey:
“At least I didn’t know you two were married. You on the other hand…” Meredith looked her up and down and scoffed. “Is this a joke to you? Let me not. Meredith don’t even think about it.” She turned back around and continued ignoring her. She wasn’t going to give her the time of day. She knew she had a long way to go with this divorce/separation she had no reason to knock heads with Addison or to even look her way. Maybe she ought to look into Seattle Pres.

“You knew we were married when I found your panties in his pocket,” she crossed her arms. “Yeah, I know Callie took the fall for you. She’s a good person…” Addison emphasized good for a reason. Sure, Meredith probably isn’t the person the redhead should be yelling at but she just hated to be ignored.
Meredith bit her lip and clenched her jaw and fists as she continued to get mad but she was done talking to Addison as she pulled out her phone to indicate so.
meredcthgrey:
“I don’t want to hear it! My God.” Mer snapped. “I don’t want to hear from you or Derek. After all these years you two seem to have some unfinished business. But for the love of God do you think you can handle yourself until after we separate. Is that too much to ask?”

The redhead wasn’t sure what came over her in that moment. A smirk set on her face and she looked at the younger woman deviously, “As I recall, I don’t believe you handled yourself until Derek and I separated… But since I’m obviously the bigger person in this situation, I think I’ll be able to show you at least some respect.”
