with the last remnants of winter withering away underneath the rising temperature and blooming of vibrant flowers, it serves as a reminder that spring has finally arrived and with that, festival season is officially underway across all the colleges within the country, especially in may. seongnam is no different, and the annual spring festival is an event that has become a staple within the university culture, bringing locals and alumni alike to come and marvel at what the school has to offer. the festival is free to anyone with a valid student or faculty id, and will be held from friday, may 1st to sunday, may 3rd. the student activities board has been working tirelessly to provide many activities for this years festival, so check under the cut for a list of them all as well as ooc information!
there will be several booths will be all around the campus, each one hosted by a different club, sport, or social club in order to promote their organization as well as raise money. some of the more popular booths includes ( but is not limited to ):
the cooking club’s booth where they sell sweet treats made by the students for a cheap price.
the kissing booth hosted jointly by the social club organization, where volunteers from every social club work in shifts. a kiss on the cheek is 10,000 won, while a kiss on the lips is 20,000. it’s said that if you give 100,000 won, you can get a fast pass that places you first in line for the member of your choice.
the photography club holding a showing of the pieces of their choice, even going on to sell them if they so choose.
an assortment of carnival games will be set up within the surrounding area as well, with classic games such as ring toss, balloons and darts, dunk tank, and many more with prizes galore! instead of using your own money to play, each game will cost a number of “tiger tokens”, of which and abundance can be bought starting at 1,000 won. they say the games are rigged in order for you to buy more tokens, are you willing to find out if it’s true?
a ferris wheel has also been installed as well, placed in a spot that gives you a scenic view of the entire campus and surrounding area from every angle of the ride. the ride is only a five minutes long whirl, but it’s more than enough time to make some pleasant memories.
need to relax and unwind? seongnam has got you covered -- the cherry blossoms that decorate the outskirts of the quad bloomed in april and are as vibrant as ever, and the campus is inviting one and all to view the falling petals and recline underneath the shade. blankets and chairs can be rented, and it’s highly encouraged to have a nice picnic underneath the view!
in collaboration with seongnam’s animal rescue group and animal shelter, the spring festival also provides a petting zoo filled with adorable animals that everyone is able to show a little love to. they will only be available in the mornings and afternoons, leaving at night, so make sure to see them while you can!
one of the more new and exciting events takes place at the old technology building -- what was used during last year’s spring festival as a laser tag area, this year it has been converted to a space for a name tag elimination game, as inspired by the popular show running man.
games run either an hour-long, or end whenever there is one person / one team remaining. the premise of the game is to rip off your enemy team’s name tags from their backs.
you will need to sign up for a specific time with a team of six ( or sign up alone and be paired up with another group ), and three teams of six will enter the building to compete against each other. you are free to sign up and enjoy the rest of the festival while you wait for your turn, and text reminders can be sent if provided with your cell phone number.
you will need to show up with your team 15 minutes before your selected time to verify information, and also to write your name on your nametag with a marker.
once in the building during your game, you are given two minutes before the game starts to do as you please -- hide, set up strategies, etc -- and no name tag ripping is allowed. once the game starts, all bets are off.
there are cameras set up in every room and hallway, all streaming to a locked control room where the game master team is located, to supervise the game as it goes on as well as announce eliminations. there are also “referees” within several areas of the building monitoring as well, so no foul play or roughhousing or you will be asked to leave.
and lastly, the most anticipated event is the live music and concerts. during the day, there will be clubs putting on performances to promote their organization, such as the glee club, the dance team, the drama club, along with other organizations and musicians taking the stage for nonstop entertainment, but it’s when the celebrities show up at 8pm every night that the entertainment area is crammed with all people within the surrounding area. tickets cost 4,000 won to get in ( 2,000 won with a student / faculty discount ) and the line up for each day is as follows:
friday, may 1st: beenzino, chungha
saturday, may 2nd: hong jinyoung, twice, psy
sunday, may 3rd: dpr live, hyukoh, iu

ooc wise, this event will start today and will run for three weeks, so you have until may 22nd to post about the event. as always, you are free to continue your threads after the deadline, but no new threads can be made. please tag all threads relating to the event as sgn:springfest and if there any questions or concern, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an ask. thank you all for reading this far, and have fun!
— ‘ ⋆ ˚。 her gaze, blank, flickers between the large mass of bodies moving forward and the stalls lining the quad. she would not willingly put herself through the pain of loud chattering, high pitched squeals, and booming music for nothing. while she would much rather be back in the confinements of her apartment, she finds herself wandering the spring festival for the fourth year in a row. at this point in her academic career, the festival has nothing interesting that catches her interest; she’s seen it all before. food stalls, activities booths, performances from both seongnam’s clubs and orgs and musical guests, just with slight variations.
the only reason she finds herself back every year is simply to observe her fellow peers. thousands of bodies at the the festival? for students it’s a chance to escape the stress from school, but for jiah, it’s an opportunity for her to find a potential new story for signed, wooyoo. with this many people gathered here, there’s bound to be drama.
she stops in her stride when the group in front of her stalls. her gaze harden, corner of her lip twitching as it wants to curve downwards. what’s the point of standing in the middle of the pathway if they’re just going to stop at random points? jiah lets out an inaudible huff, having half the mind to just push through them, but that would only ruin her image as the gentle, quiet cheerleader. she turns her head to see which booth has caught their attention, only to find herself captivated by a photograph hanging.
it’s a picture of the skyline at dusk. the scene itself is nothing special but she finds herself drawn to it anyways. she hesitates, but quickly decides to approach the photograph. she does not want to block the walkway unlike the group in front of her. her steps are light as she walks closer, stopping in front of the image that caught her attention, hand raised and finger out as she moves to stroke it. but she freezes and stops before she can commit to the action. she’s quite sure that she’s not allowed to touch, something about protecting the artwork or some bullshit like that. her gaze darts around the booth, searching for anyone who could’ve caught her red handed and slowly begins to walk backwards out of the booth. the photograph isn’t that interesting anyways.

the campus always looks a little bit different as the sun begins to set, hues of orange and yellow cast into the sky, bathing the buildings and scenery in an almost surreal light. the effect only becomes amplified by the fact that the spring festival is currently underway, practically transforming the university into a completely different place. it all makes it feel a bit whimsical and she isn’t quite sure why---perhaps she’s always been a hopeless romantic with her head in the clouds? or, more likely, it’s because she’s on her way to meet taeho, who always seems to get her heart beating and warmth to spread to the apples of her cheeks. (she’d never admit it out loud, though.)
the lights are beginning to pop up, slowly dotting the horizon with manmade stars as she makes her way through the crowd in search of him, heart beating even faster than usual. she remembers too vividly the plans they had made, and the reservations she has about still bubble in the pit of her stomach, like the makings of some kind of potion in a witch’s cauldron, smoking and popping in a sickly shade of green. she almost wants to turn back now, to type up a message with some kind of excuse, but she’s never once turned down an invitation to hang out with him, especially when it’s just the two of them---not that she’d be able to even if she tried.
she spots him in the distance, even the back of his head immediately recognizable to her. she approaches with small but quick footsteps, as quiet as can be, only coming to a stop once she’s right at his side, looking up at his side profile with a giddy grin. “wanna play a game?” she asks, imitating the famous line from a horror film she’s never even seen because horror films make her skittish. “because i’m ready if you are.”
soft chirping fills the crisp morning air as the students begin setting up their respective booths for the spring festival. it was the first day of the festival and junhyung had brought over some of his photographs to be displayed and sold at the photography club’s booth. when it comes to events like this, junhyung was only in for the fun and shirks responsibility when he can. however, he was more than happy to have some of his photographs selected to go on sale during the festival so here he was — actually up and about at 10 am in the morning, headed for the booth by the quad.
when he arrived at the booth, he was carrying a cardboard box with some frames in it. he places the box down on the table next to the display wall and greeted the other club members that were already present. he takes two frames out of the box, one on each hand before moving towards the display wall to hang them up when he notices a set of photographs that were already hung up. he feels his gaze pull towards the set, unable to break away from them. something about it captivated him in a way he couldn’t explain — it was just a simple set of four, each with the same subject, a smiling boy before the camera. in some, he appeared shy and avoided looking into the lens while he grins back playfully in others. there was something about how blissful and raw the pictures felt that sets off something in junhyung — was it envy? awe? admiration? maybe all of it.
junhyung could never take pictures like that. sure, he was good at scenic photography but he always found himself avoiding portraits, and for a stupid reason too. he feels like photographing people is way too intimate for his liking and has only photographed very few people in his lifetime, namely his family members (mostly because his sister makes him take her dumb ootds) and his close friends like danbi and sunwoo. otherwise, he sticks to what he knows best and is most comfortable with, scenic photography.
while photographing people might seem like an easy feat — just point a camera at them and snap, some might say, it actually takes more skill than it does for scenic photography — at least, that’s how junhyung sees it. to take a good portrait, one would have to make the subject feel comfortable in front of the camera and on top of that, bring out their emotions naturally, which junhyung was pretty bad at. it might be because he lacks experience in the emotional aspect and only has his eye for aesthetics to count on at the moment. does he want to change that and eventually master the art of portrait photography? yes, without a doubt. he might, some day in the future but for now, all he can do is to admire other people’s works like the one that has complete hold on his attention right then.
and if you call for me, you know i'll run || @sgnxseungah
wooyoung was only slightly disheartened when he learnt that seungah wouldn’t be joining him for dinner after practice. had psyched himself up for the occasion, in an attempt to push nerves and the like away. though he could understand the reasoning--he wasn’t a stranger to her partaking in late practices, to polish edges. the art major often did the same thing back when he had something to practice for, even if only for the notion of peace of mind. it was something, better than nothing.
regardless, he called into an ice cream parlour, with the intention of giving her something to eat after practice. something had told him that if it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t eat at all, until she’d arrive back at her dorm to tuck into something easy. it wasn’t ideal, but he understood. until then, it was simply a waiting game. only he didn’t enjoy. trapped in his dorm room, with nothing more than a sketchbook resting on his thighs, phone sitting beside him, with a hand that was all too eager to drop her a message or two. he’d tell himself that it was simply to check in on her, to see if she was okay--but there was something more behind his ticks.
and perhaps the speed at which he reacted, when his phone buzzed to life, was embarrassing. all too eager to learn if it was the cheerleader or not. of course it wasn’t, though the contents of the message saw him rereading. a message from sunny, telling him that seungah had fallen asleep during practice. of course she did; worked herself to the brink of exhaustion. it wasn’t new to him, after all.
thus saw him rushing to the location in question, only to find her practically sprawled out across a number of chairs. wooyoung couldn’t help the fond smile that came over his lips, as he thanked sunny. otherwise slipping his arms underneath the sleeping figure, to lift her up and hold her to his body, bidding the others adieu. fortunately he was healed enough that carrying her back to his dorm was something akin to child’s play. the struggle was taking care of her further.
luckily, he was something of an expert of watching her get ready back when they were something, thus all he needed to do was repeat her usual process of removing makeup. that would be enough, right? the former athlete wasn’t entirely sure, though the ordeal wasn’t a difficult one by any means. saw him remove her makeup, and lead to him carrying her over to his bed. further removing her boots, and tucking her underneath the covers. now it was simply yet another waiting game, as he returned to the same chair he’d previously found himself sinking into. half watching her, and half trying to distract himself with his phone.
As soon as he’d heard there would be a celebration for his favorite season, Sunwoo pushed everything out of his calendar. Nothing was going to get in his way of making the most of the festivities! At least that was what he’d thought until he was standing in line at the kissing booth.
Brown eyes blinked rapidly behind spectacles, darting all over as he tried to come up with some excuse to exit the queue before he reached the front. Taking a deep, calming breath, the youth reminded himself that it was to support his friends, a noble cause. Then again, he stole a quick look at those dear people, would he survive their teasing?
Oh, why not. It was just a kiss, right? Watching as the fellow before him walked up and got a sweet little peck on the cheek, Sunwoo whirled around to glare at the ticket counter. He hadn’t even known that was an option, simply handing over his money and letting them direct him! What had he paid for, he wondered while exchanging his ticket with the volunteer. “Hi, uh, whatever this gets me, please.” Blood rushed to fill round cheeks as his eyes fluttered closed, wishing his ears could do the same thing.
If he survived this, he was definitely going to have to apologize.
Sidling up against the counter, Sunwoo held his breath. Flutters seemed to occupy every nerve in his body as he could sense them drawing closer to him. A delicate scent pushed past the varying aromas of cooking sweets and treats on the air. Silky lips pressed against his set for a painstakingly long heartbeat while he flushed even brighter under the public eye. And then it was over, and he could breathe again. “Thank you and I am so sorry!” Folding over into a bow, the freshman hit his head on the counter. “Ow,” he mumbled in his most pitiful voice.
Fingers rubbed at a tender forehead as he finally managed to get to Danbi and Junhyung who’d wrapped up their shifts. “My plants would never do this to me,” was muttered beneath his breath before addressing the rowdy pair. “Remind me to make sure you aren’t around if I ever kiss someone again. Are we ready to go now, please?”
— [ ♡ ] contrary to popular belief, yooa did know how to have fun. it surprises her how many people wholeheartedly expect her to be stuck up or uptight in all aspects of her life. sure, she likes to keep busy and works her ass off when it comes to her education or when she’s in a professional setting, but she’s still young. she wants to enjoy her youth before it withers away. today, she wanted to just have fun. leave the stress of life in her apartment and go out and enjoy herself. she’s put in additional hours earlier this week to finish all her assignments and grading, even despite being busy with her extracurriculars. (really, she finds it ironically funny that all but one of the orgs she’s in, is performing at spring fest).
the first stop she wants to hit is obviously the food stalls. she’s always loved eating fair food, even though the stalls always up the price, but there’s nothing like walking around the festival, enjoying the sights with street food in your hands. today is no exception, so she finds herself pulling jiwoo along on her adventure(to get food). the two of them have grown rather close after exchanging numbers. while she wouldn’t go as far as to call the younger her best friend, she does view jiwoo like a younger sister. and since she never had a younger sibling in the first place(though sometimes she feels like she’s the older one when compared to junsun), she wants to spoil jiwoo endlessly.
❝ so, i didn’t plan an itinerary for the day, but i was thinking we can hit up the photography club’s booth after getting food? then we can just explore wherever you like. my call time for glee, drama, and dance is at 5:30 so we have until then together. is that fine? ❞ she turns to face the younger in mid walk, a sharp expectant look in her eyes, but it’s softened up by the happy smile on her lips.
♡ @sgntaeho | around the moment the clock strikes eight, sian swears that the carnival area becomes a dead zone, devoid of the life that was scattered about the place only an hour ago.
and she completely understands why whenever the all too familiar beat of twice’s cheer up rings out not too far from where they stand, the raucous cheering almost enough to drown out the sweet sounds. she turns towards the direction and there’s a sense of nostalgia that runs through her, thoughts of years of the past when her own group’s schedules were filled with festival performances, constantly surprised at how ferociously their male fans would chant along to the fairy-like tunes. the experience was fun, one of the upsides of her career, and she’s not sure if she would of imagined that she would end up studying at one of the schools that welcomed her group so warmly with open arms. then again, she didn’t think she would have left the group while studying here as well.
sian is almost stuck within her reverie that she forgets where she is, what she’s doing -- and it’s only when she looks down to the two drinks in her head that she remembers; taeho. right.
the girl practically gallops back over to him from one of the food booths, raising her hand to wave his requested drink of choice in his face only to snatch it away with a wide grin once he reaches out towards it. when she attempts to do it a second time, her hand is only half way near his face before she roughly pulls it towards her again, this time a bright laugh accompanying her actions. “wow, you’re stupid and slow, two for two,” the girl teases, the glint within dark hues giving away the fact that she’s up to something, “i’ll let you have your drink under one condition -- you win that for me,” and she tucks the can underneath her arm for safekeeping while she points out to the oversized rilakkuma bears hanging from the balloon dart game booth. sure, the game was most likely easy enough for her to win and gain the stuffed animal on her own, but things were so much better when she didn’t have to work for them. so, she uses the free hand to push her friend ( yes, her friend, believe it or not ) lightly, “come oooon taeho, do it. you’re thirsty aren’t you? and you’re like, a man, right? do it, doooo it,” she’s whining, attempting to rock him back and forth as if that would help.
“and also, this is completely unrelated --” sort of, as the twice girls reach the chorus as do the peak of the screams, “who’s your favorite twice member? i know you’re gonna be like ‘i don’t listen to that mess’ but we had big burly scary dudes at our fansigns all the time, so i don’t believe you,” she mentions before leaning closer to the boy to study his face, eyes squinting before they pop open in revelation, “you totally look like you have a nayeon poster at home. or -- ooh! mina. how many mina photocards do you have at home, huh? do you want her signature? i could pull some strings and get that for you -- maybe even a lock of her hair too. you’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
