1) Sha Hai - worst bastard widow man is on a quest to retrieve his husband, kidnaps hostile feral kitten human teenager for plot reasons that are absolutely bananas. I love everything about it.

2) Beyond Evil - Horrible rich brat with an inborn sense of justice and a raging case of contamination ocd, found nothing honorable in his own life, latches on to a grieving bastard older man, makes said older man his moral compass while also arresting him for murder more than once. No one here should be working in law enforcement and the show doesn't pretend they should be.

3) Babylon 5 - formative. What if Lord of the Rings level grandeur was in space. What if you wanted to cry a lot. What about the space angels. Don't worry about the cgi, use your imagination.

4) Word of Honor - man retires from his government job in the most dramatic way possible. He gets rudely interrupted from his daily agenda of day drinking and dying slowly by a man trying to deal with his own problems in the most dramatic way possible. They are forcibly adopted by a teenager. (I always skip the end and keep forgetting about the agrarian jumpscare.)

5) Pursuit of Jade - man discovers being a wifeguy. Man's top general discovers new ways to get a headache. Woman is perfect.

6) Neon Genesis Evangelion - does the presence of this title on this list say something about me? If I say it's formative, does that say something about me? Probably not.

7) Nirvana in Fire - Man comes back from the dead to put his former best friend on the throne. He also ruins more than one birthday party. I always forget to warn people about the yeti. (You'll know it when you see it.) There's a feral teenager played by the same actor who plays the feral teenager in Sha Hai.

8) The Double - Women's rights. Women's wrongs. A man or two. Xue Fangfei is murdered by her husband. Fortunately for her, her husband is incompetent at murder and it doesn't work. (Of she was murdering him, it would have worked.) She decides to do something about this, so she takes on the identity of another wronged young woman and proceeds to Fix Things. Satisfying.

9) The Spirealm - What if you were very depressed and out of work and probably disassociating much of the time and you loved your cat very much. And then you accidentally got a job you couldn't refuse to play lethal escape rooms for a living?

10) Letterkenny - The most creative use of the Canadian language ever written. Will take a joke and drive it to the ground and then dig a hole to drive it even further. There are 5000 people in Letterkenny but these ones are the best.

Fo ye can get away with all the gutongjing stuff bc we get that story through zhang rishan who loves him. Sanshu can get away with being a bitch bc wu xie loves him. the real tomb treasure was the family we found along the way
