بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ It must be understood that when one supplicates to Allah (asks Allah for things) one is not asking Allah to change His Will. It is among the essentials of the belief of Muslims that Allah's Will is eternal and does not change. Rather, one would be asking Allah to change one’s situation from a difficult situation to an easier one, from a good situation to a better one, or the like. Allah is the only One attributed with Eternity. That is, Allah has no beginning and likewise His Attributes are eternal — without a beginning. The attributes of other than Allah are created; they change from one state to another. Allah is clear of change. He is the One Who creates changes in His creations, but He does not change. He is the One Who creates development in His creations, but He does not develop. That is, Allah has no beginning, and as such, His Attributes are also eternal (without a beginning). The attributes of anything or anyone other than Allah are created, and they change from one state to another. Allah, however, is clear of change. He is the One Who creates the changes in His creations, but He does not change. He is the One Who creates development in His creations, but He does not develop. It must be understood that when one supplicates to Allaah (asks Allaah for things) one is not asking Allaah to change His Will. It is among the essentials of the belief of Muslims that Allaah’s Will is eternal and does not change. Rather, one would be asking Allaah to change the person’s situation from a difficult situation to an easier one, from a good situation to a better one, or the like. The Will of Allaah does not change. This is among the basics of the beliefs of the Muslims. Change is among the very obvious signs that a thing is a creation. This matter is clarified in the Book of Allah and in the hadith of the Prophet. (Some falsely understand that the meaning of Verse 39 of Suratar-Ra^d is: “Allaah changes His Will.” Truly, this is NOT the meaning of this verse as interpreted by the famous companion, Ibn ^Abbas. Al-Bayhaqiyy narrated from Ibn ^Abbas that this verse refers to the abrogiations, that is, Allaah Willed for some verses of the Qur’an to be abrogated, and not for others to be abrogated. This interpretation of Ibn ^Abbas reconfirms that the Will of Allaah does not change. ) In Surat Qaf, Ayah 29, Allaah, ta^ala said, which means: {My Will does not change. } There is a video that has been spread, that incorrectly claims that you can change what Allaah willed if you make dua. This is incorrect. This false belief is due to lack of knowledge and misinterpretation of some hadiths of our beloved Prophet.
