[Press Release] The Labour Front is Unfit to Serve!
The Labour Front is unfit to serve. Earlier today, they moved a ‘Vote to Expel a Member of the House’ against their own Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr J.M. Jumabhoy. Minister of Health Armand Joseph Braga and Minister for Labour and Welfare Lim Yew Hock and made false and unsubstantiated claims against Mr J.M. Jumabhoy, claiming that he went overseas to further “his own business interests”. Mr J.M. Jumabhoy refuted this false claim, clarifying that his stint was solely to study the successful UK economic policies for local implementation. Even as he has returned with his newfound knowledge and expertise, and the ability to solve the cost-of-living crisis, the government wants to remove him and replace him with the inexperienced William Tan Ah Lek, who has never served in government.
This comes at a time when you, the people, are suffering with the cost-of-living crisis and are barely able to afford your daily necessities. The current government is clearly too divided among themselves to continue to serve, too caught up in internal political affairs, and too unaware of the real and tangible bread-and-butter issues facing the populace. The government is all about power and not about action.
Even in their limited capacities, the opposition has already done much for workers, with Lim Cher Kheng and Rajabali Jumabhoy utilising both their personal funds and connections with businesses to aid their constituents. Mr Jumabhoy distributed $500 payouts to every household in his constituency to tide them over the economic crisis, and Mr Jumabhoy and Mr Lim Cher Kheng collectively called for the SMC to invest in the rice farming business to bring down the costs of this essential staple. Most of all, the Progressive Party have plans to built five hospitals and 5,000 affordable houses for people. Aiding fire victims further on.
We hope that the populace will take heed of the government’s incompetence and infighting and make your vote count at the next election. It is clear which side of the House has your true interests at heart. Progress with progressive!
Yours sincerely, The Loyal Opposition
