1991....There's that queen @thesherylleeralph along with #janethubert who is finally getting roles she deserved YEARS ago!! Most of you probably don't know that I didn't tell anyone I was a trained actress with a BFA when I first got to Los Angeles. I felt I HAD to focus on writing to create roles for myself and others. The term multi-hyphenate wasn't a thing. But that's what I was. After my first experience with #theartistsway I embraced the term "actswrite" (my original IG name was Kaypri Actswrite) and proclaimed: I DO BOTH. Along the way realized I'd been a producer the whole time... BTW this @ebonymagazine cover came out the year I entered @howard1867 #scandal was over two decades later!! We still got a LOT of ground to cover!! Both in front of and behind the scenes!! #bipoc members of @wgaeast @wgawest which I just joined!! ...and #dga and other unions like @iatse are still incredibly LOW. This affects onscreen representation in HUGE ways which contributes to #racism in media. I have to say I have never shed so many tears in a long time. To see them all reunited again, including Janet Hubert, was a reunion long overdue. Not one of the age very much. They all look the same and Alfonso can still do the Carlton dance like it was yesterday. I am grateful that Will and Janet are finally back on speaking terms and began the process of healing. To hear Janet's story really tore me up. And how the media put out false statements about her being crazy and dealing with abuse. I only wish James Avery aka Uncle Phi was alive to witness this. He was truly the heart of this show. And the tribute they did for him reminded me how much he taught me when I was very young.
