Of the evil type, they are purely evil.
They have a dark, smoky body, almost translucent in places, slender limbs, curved claws always ready to tear, and three easily recognizable jaws and eyes.
Shadow Mephits live and hunt in packs. They are:
• organized
• patient
• opportunistic
• cruel
They often prey on lost pets, isolated creatures, and vulnerable animals.
They sometimes play with their prey before killing it. They take pleasure in harming others—that much was clear.
Shadow Mephits belong to the order of demons. They are therefore entirely malevolent, drawn to cruelty, and susceptible to negative intentions.
They do not serve someone because they are dominated. They serve whoever's intentions please them most. The more cruel, resentful, or power-hungry a person is, the more loyal the Shadow Mephits become.
In this respect, they function like goblins... but worse.
They follow orders enthusiastically... as long as those orders are evil. They quickly turn against a master who becomes too weak or too lenient.
Shadow Mephits are extremely dangerous because of their ability to pass through matter as if it didn't exist, travel between dimensions, and appear and disappear suddenly.
It is almost impossible to escape them once spotted. They pursue you even into the plane of existence where you think you are safe.
Their saliva is a highly sought-after ingredient. It's used, among other things, to make invisibility potions.
These potions have unpleasant side effects and are extremely complicated to brew. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
They fear fire. AND THAT is extremely important information if we don't want to die.
