10 questions for shadow work: copy these questions and give your own answers ❤️🩹
1/30/25 Be completely honest with yourself…
1. What are the aspects of myself that I try to hide or suppress?
answer: For certain, my sexuality and the way I’ve always been such a sexual person since I was really little. Also, my songwriting. I hide that from everyone close to me because my songs are so personal and vulnerable and I don’t like sharing my deepest thoughts with family or friends out of fear that they’ll think I’m bad.
2. What recurring patterns or behaviors have been holding me back?
answer: In relationships, obviously choosing toxic men who just use me and I people please for them. I guess I like being needed and obsessed? In general, I tend to escape with music and TV always have. The only time I’m even motivated is if I’m working on a new song but here lately, I’ve even lost that motivation.
3. When do I feel most ashamed or embarrassed about myself?
answer: When I’m in touch with my sexual side, and of course, when I remember the porn videos I’ve seen, and the fact that I sent nude pictures of myself to total strangers on the Internet, countless times, but not only that, the way I was obsessed with my exes… also sometimes I blurt things out loud that I’m thinking, but I get to stuttering or I say something backwards and it just comes out wrong or inappropriate and I can’t get it back once I’ve said it and then I have to apologize for what I’ve said and people laugh it off but then I think about it for a long time lol
4. What fears or insecurities tend to surface in challenging situations?
answers: That I’m stupid and that people are just using me as a joke. That people don’t actually like me I’m just easy to make fun of…
5. How do I react when someone triggers me or pushes my buttons?
answer: Depending on the situation, I either shut down or I get really frustrated/angry, and have to cool off… usually have to go in the other room or the bathroom and talk myself down off the ledge. Also I get really emotional. 6. Are there parts of myself that I judge or criticize others for having?
answer: Yes, there is a lot of things. My sexuality for one. I’ve always been a sexual person since I was really little and I’ve always tried to hide it best as I could. I’ve always dressed opposite of how I actually feel about my body. Like I want to dress to wear my clothes to fit my body nicely and even complement my body, but I don’t wanna be inappropriate in public or get the wrong attention but yet deep down I know that I like the attention too. It’s weird. 7. What unresolved emotions or past experiences still affect me today?l
answer: Obviously with my exes and the emotional abuse. I mean, I got no closure with either of them really and I never stopped loving them, but I know they treated me poorly and I shouldn’t love them and I feel really bad about myself because of them. I feel bad for caring about them when I think it’s right to care about people but the world paints them out as a complete monsters and yes, they did abuse me and hurt me so shouldn’t I think they’re monsters too? But I don’t I actually feel sorry for them, but they would never feel sorry for me.
8. How do I self-sabotage or undermine my own success or happiness?
answer: I don’t ever think anything is about me or for me and for whatever reason, I deprive myself of so many things and say I can’t have these things. It’s too expensive and I’m not allowed to have expensive stuff and for some reason, I’m in this mindset that I have to be cheap and I have to save stuff and I’m not able to do things that others do because I was grown up being told I was stupid so I limit myself that way and for some reason I won’t let myself even try. I’m scared to try because I’m afraid to fail I guess???? I don’t know.
9. What beliefs about myself or the world do I need to let go of?
answer: I know for sure since the emotional abuse, I no longer believe that my love has the power that I thought it had because it couldn’t help my ex Cody when he asked me to fix him which for all I know that was just a manipulation tactic and he didn’t actually want me to fix him, but I can’t fix people. I can’t even fix my self half the time and I can’t make others happy. I can barely make my own self happy and how do I even know what real love is?
10. How can I integrate and embrace my shadow aspects to cultivate self-acceptance and growth?
answer: This one is really difficult. I honestly have no thoughts for this one because why would I want to accept the dark parts of me? I want to change me and be a better person. I don’t know…. I have to come back to this question another time. 😝
