You're correct! Tarquin Week 2025 was back in September. But if you ask me, every week should be Tarquin Week and therefore I finished my drawings just now. ;)
[Tarquin Week 2025 | Prompts: Imperial Templars, Loyalty, Scars, Chosen Family, Romance, The Military ]
Whenever I was bored in school I scribbled a lot but sometimes I didn't know what to draw. So that was when I drew my Shadowdragons. The neat thing about them is that you don't have to plan anything or think about it while drawing. You just draw some shapes.
I liked to think that the shapes look different depending on your mood, basically cataloguing your feelings.
I tried to find some old photos to give a bit more examples but somehow they all have only two legs. Normally I draw four but that's also up to you. Give them six or whatever.
Little tutorial under the cut.
1. I always start with the upper part of the mouth followed by the bottom part and the eye and horn/s (if they have some).
2. Outline the next part and fill it in
3. Repeat till you want to draw the legs/wings.
The legs always start with these big 'twirl' shapes. I fill the wings with waves, zick zack lines or just curves.
4. And lastly the tail ends in some teardrop shapes that get smaller an smaller most times.
So that is how I do it but it's mostly about drawing some shapes and not to think too hard about it. Let the shapes flow.
If you try this out and draw some Shadowdragons yourself feel free to @ me so that I can see your creations. :3
