I may have already asked you this but how did you make your talk sprites?
I’m not sure how much this will really help since I’m using a really outdated version of photoshop (photoshop 7.0), but I’d be glad to explain how I made my sprites.
I used a canon talksprite sort of like a base. Using photoshop, I put another layer on top of it and sketched what I wanted my character to look like. The canon sprite was mostly just for reference so I could get the proportions and stuff right.
After I sketched it out, I did the lineart over it on another layer using the pencil tool so I could get aliased edges and the pen tool so the lines would come out smoothly and evenly. I use size 3 for the outer lines, and size 2 for everything else.
Once the lineart’s done, I just color everything in on different layers (skin, face, clothes, shadows) and color in the hair on the lineart layer. Once the sprite itself is done, I open the file up in Image Ready and save it as a .gif
