“I mean, of course I do..” Now here was the rough part, being able for this long to go under the elder’s nose and getting the numerous suits and continuing to use them without any other higher Paladins catching wind of it. But it hadn’t all been his fault! Granted the reckon teams he’d been sent out with didn’t mind it when the Initiate managed to fall into very large potholes, or even run out of a fusion core and not have the strength to drag the suit back to the Prydwen.

The young man lowered his gaze, disappointed in himself as Elder Maxson gave him what he’d ultimately had coming.

“They were just accidents, Elder Maxson. I was given a lot of opportunities by some of the Knights and.. I’m sorry, but all that I’d damaged or lost were retrieved. I know that answer isn’t a satisfactory one.”

Time had never been kind to him, but neither had the wasteland. And it was for such reasons, among a countless many, that drew Paladin Lancelot away from him. Instances when she returned were far and few between, such as she had today.

Arthur rose to his feet, his imposing posture as stiff as ever, and as his paladin returned to his side, the young Elder drew her forward into something akin to a familial embrace as he moved to kiss the hard plane stretching between her temple and ear.

“While I am aware that you do not necessarily have a choice,” he began lowly before they had mutually pulled away, hands drawing away from her body respectfully, “I will ask that the news you bring contain positive information I’ve been waiting to hear.”

           In the midst of the embrace, she playfully made as if to shove him away only to return the affection with a small kiss herself– A lazy peck placed off the side of his sternum while she refused to stand upon tiptoes to reach any higher.

          “All end goals were met with a few hitches,” Lance began. “The armament reserve wasn’t as great as we were hoping, but the fusion cores numbered nicely above our higher estimates. As far as the necessary enlistment of the locals it wasn’t as... cost-effective as predicted–” Translation: I got swindled again.

          “But overall the mission was a success.”

           As she spoke she closed the distance once more to lean tiredly against his side, then wandered to his cabinet in search of a nice bottle and a clean-enough shot glass. Once victorious in those efforts, she settled at his table to pour herself a drink.

          “Also, I, uh,” -cough- “might-have-accidentally-gotten-you-married-off-while-I-was-away–

          “–But I’m fixing it!!”

The former Paladin was nothing if not observant. He had it drilled into his very bones that to become distracted – to allow your focus to shift to something that was not part of your surroundings – could mean death. It could be overly dangerous, especially out in the open and alone. Danse should know better. After over a decade in the Brotherhood, and running around the Capitol Wasteland as young adult before that, it should’ve been second nature to keep his attention from being split. In the end, he would blame the shot on nothing more than dumb luck – as he did not see the solo set of power armor over the horizon ; the Brotherhood did not typically come out this way. It was not their territory – it was not their land. It was a place that Danse should be able to wander the dirt of without worrying about his safety. Should be; maybe that was why his focus was split. Maybe that was why he did not notice the Brotherhood soldier until the sound of the laser weapon beingfired rang through the wastes – followed almost instantly by a SEARING pain against his abdomen. Ever since becoming a Knight in the Brotherhood, Danse had rarely let his boots hit the ground without being shrouded by his power armor.  But, without a place to properly maintenance it – without a place to properly store it ; it was less of a burdento not wear it. To instead sport combat armor that clung tightly to muscle and skin – and revealed much more of his body to the world than he was comfortable with. The shot hit right below the curve of his chest piece – searing through his clothing, and burning through flesh. Knees buckled as a gasp vibrated in his lungs ; the weight of his body hitting the sand before he could even properly comphrend what was happening. It had been avery long time since he had gotten injured without the pillowing of his power armor dulling the throb. In the fall, his laser rifle tumbled from his holster – sitting against the dirt a few good feet from where he lay. A grunt of pain rose from his chest as he rolled over onto his side with some effort – squinting at the figure in the distance as he struggled to try and reach his weapon – just outside of his grasp as harsh pants made his entire being quiver.

Bash and his affinity for anything spicy is possibly worrisome, but he fucking LOVES chili peppers and hot shit. His ‘mild’ would probably make a normal person’s eyes water and asshole sting. There is yet to be something he would find too spicy, he challenges anyone to find him something even he goes ‘fucksake, that’s too hot’.
