What they think their most attractive quality is?
Their favorite thing to do on Valentine’s day without a date?
How do they feel about romantic comedies? Do they have a favorite?
Their ideal first date?
What personality traits they find most attractive in others?
What physical features they find most attractive in others?
Your muse’s first kiss?
Your muse’s first crush? Their first celebrity crush?
Your muse’s first romantic partner?
Why did their last relationship end?
What is your muse looking for in their next partner? Partners?
What they think their most attractive quality is? His really, really big...heart. Seriously, he loves to listen as much as he loves to talk. This boy doesn’t have an enemy that I can think of.
Their favorite thing to do on Valentine’s day without a date? Find another dateless person and go to the movies or something. He would find another single person and be like ‘this can be totally platonic, but let’s go bowling and grab drinks.’ He really doesn’t like being alone.
How do they feel about romantic comedies? Do they have a favorite? He doesn’t really seek them out, but the last one he saw was The Big Sick because he’s a fan of the lead actor. Plus, it’s a true story and Nick loves those.
Their ideal first date? Anything fun and quirky-- a date at the arcade, a sword-fighting class, something that stands out. Then drinks or dinner where they can really talk and connect. Ends in sex. He is who he is.
What personality traits they find most attractive in others? He is attracted to girls with a level of sass and aren’t super open books. He’s attracted to a level of mystery initially. But after that, honesty is a big thing for him. He wants someone who doesn’t play games.
What physical features they find most attractive in others? Brunettes are a soft spot for him, but he loves a girl with a pretty smile. Also, butts.
Your muse’s first kiss? He was in kindergarten. Her name was Shayla and she was in their trailer park. The kids wanted to play wedding and he and Shayla ‘got married.’ He gave her a weed that sprouted a flower and they kissed in front of the other neighbour kids.
Your muse’s first crush? Their first celebrity crush? His first crush was Shayla, then his celebrity crush was Britney Spears.
Your muse’s first romantic partner? After his brief marriage with Shayla, he dated a girl in fourth grade named Adria. He grew up having a new girlfriend in almost every grade of school. He was well liked and interested in girls, but found he outgrew them easily. He likes to be stimulated but always seeks that rush that comes with dating a new person.
Why did their last relationship end? Kind of like the last answer. His heart kept getting pulled in all directions as he met new people and he stopped being so invested in the relationship. It was new enough that they were drifting apart and mutually parted ways.
What is your muse looking for in their next partner? Partners? He needs someone who knows what it’s like to come from a troubled background. He wants someone who keeps him on his toes and every day feels new with them. He struggles with routine in his love life and needs a lot of spontaneity.
He was handsome, with dark hair and even darker eyes. His lips had been so full and soft, delicate against the sharp instrument of his tongue. He wielded it like a dagger, using it to cut through the toughest parts of her, revealing a softness underneath that she had long since thought lost. It was strange how easy it was to succumb to him, to let his body cover hers in ways no man was ever allowed to before. It was stranger still when she enjoyed it, thrilled at the press of strong arms pinning her down, rough hands dragging across smooth skin and pulling away layers, both physical and metaphorical. The euphoria of those same lips, that dangerous tongue against the soft shell of her ear, along a pulse point that no longer thrummed with life made her dizzy.
She was stronger than him, there was no doubt about that. He was human, she was something else entirely, but with him it didn’t matter. She didn’t have to be strong, to be powerful, to be above everyone else. With him, she could submit. Allow herself to feel--small, frail, delicate, but never weak. He would take the reins and she would follow along, lovesick and delirious. He held total and unwavering control over her, and for the first time in her long life, Maeve was willing to give it up.
He aged, as all humans were to do, but he never lost his passion. The fever of their love never wavered, never once faltered no matter the atrocities she commited, the lives she took. He had accepted her, body and soul, and in turn she had accepted him. The answer to their problem was simple: an even exchange. No longer would he grow old, weak. No longer would she have to fear the day when she would lose him, too, just like all the others. Instead, they would have eternity to know one another, to love and to cherish each other. It had been so simple. So easy.
But Maeve had been a fool. Blinded by lust, by the quick wit that stunned and surprised her. He had known parts of her that no one else had known, and he used those weaknesses to his advantage. He was a thief, an assassin, and she had unknowingly given an enemy a weapon against herself, against her kind. The fever had worn off, and in its wake it left a clammy sickness, the knowledge that she had been wrong. So terribly, terribly wrong about all of it.
Black blood seeped into the sheets beneath her, staining the pure white with something unholy, shameful. A dagger--physical, real, painful--held her in place as she gasped and choked, that same abominable liquid clogging up her throat and spilling out across kiss bitten lips. What had once been tears leaked from her eyes as the reality of the situation settled in. She had shown her truest self, and now she was being punished. Thoughts danced around in her mind like a macabre ballet, memories of their shared history twisting and turning into something dark. Where there had once been joy and sunshine, she now only felt pain.
Betrayal.
Hatred.
Fear.
Perhaps this was what he wanted all along. Take everything she had to offer him, and then take some more. End it when he got what he wanted. It would make sense. Men, Maeve had learned, were only ever in it for themselves. Their own power, pleasure, wealth, success. Everything else was just fodder. To be discarded the moment they outran their use. The kisses, the promises, and the sweet words had meant nothing. They were tools used by a professional to whittle away at her exterior, to expose the soft, fleshy underbelly and to strike.
There was a decision to be made. He could return with his spoils, take some more from her and maybe finish the job, and she could let him. Or she could gather her broken pieces back together and stitch herself up into something stronger, tougher. She could prove to him that Maeve was not one to be trifled with, that though he had broken her heart, he could never crush her spirit. That it was him who should be afraid.
He had returned, her sire’s prized grimoire tucked underneath an arm and a self-satisfied smirk on his lips. She felt sick, a nausea that only overtook her when it was time to feed, when she saw that look. Flashes of that same grin pressing against the flesh of her neck, her stomach, her thighs. The warmth of it replaced by the coldness in his eyes. “No hard feelings, love. It’s just business.”
Business. She’d laugh if she wasn’t still choking on her own blood. He came nearer, his spoils set off to the side and safe from the mess they had made together, and he put his hands on her again. The sparks of electricity that had once been ignited by his touch were no longer. In their stead, it was gravel. Sandpaper against her skin, catching and pulling, leaving nothing but pain and disgust in their wake. When those thick fingers danced up her torso, jostling the blade in her chest and curled around her blood-stained cheek, she flinched as if she had been struck. His touch was no longer welcomed. It was unwanted, despised, no matter how gentle he remained.
“You have been so good to me, my sweet. So passionate, so giving. Who knows where I would be if it wasn’t for you. You, who was so desperate to be loved.” Rough thumb swiping over the mess of her face, pressing her bottom lip against her row of teeth until the skin split and seeped. The shock of it was nothing compared to press of his lips on hers, drinking in her gasps and pleas. Her blood staining his front, his face. He was drunk off of his own power. He was too far gone to notice the breaking of her bonds.
Weak from hunger and grief, it took more effort than usual to switch their positions, to strike him hard enough to daze him while she struggled to rip the dagger from her chest. She cried out with the force of it, the pain shooting down her spine like fire, lighting up nerve-endings that she long thought dead. She panted when it pulled free, the inky black liquid dripping onto the body beneath her, his fingers spread wide and palms flat against the thighs that straddled him. There was laughter in his eyes, a twist to his lips that showed off his sharp fangs. Weapons she had given him. A bubble of laughter spilled from his chest, deep and rumbling, as he gripped her thighs tighter. “Go ahead, dearest, if you think you have it in you. But we both know I’m leaving here tonight with that book.”
He could throw her off, Maeve knew this. She knew she was weakened, that he had caught her off guard and had bested her, even if she held the upper hand now. He was so sure of himself, so arrogant in the face of the creature who gave him new life. The hurt began to dwindle as the anger settled in, lighting her up from the inside out. It took minimal force for someone of her kind to plunge the same dagger deep into his chest, to grunt as she twisted, using her own weight to keep it embedded deep. Her hair hung in long, matted clumps around her face, brushing against the one beneath her, and as he began to choke he laughed again. His own blood flecking across her face, mingling in with the stains.
“You have no idea what I’m capable of,” she seethed, readjusting her grip on the hilt and twisting, relishing in the grunts and gasps of pain the movement elicited. She could feel the matching hole in her chest slowly begin to stitch itself together, the wound throbbing with the memory of the blade. She would do what he was too proud to do.
She didn’t ask questions. She didn’t gloat. Instead, she shut her mind off as she ripped the blade free and plunged it back down, repeating the motion until she was satisfied with the size of the hole in his chest, the blood splatter that covered her naked body and the rest of the room. With a sharp inhale, she embedded the blade into the center of his throat, stalling the loud choking noises as she pulled herself free and stood on wobbly legs. It was unusual for vampires to keep a weakness so close at hand, but as her foot connected with the wooden table and broke the leg off, she found herself thankful for the oversight. She could feel his eyes on her, and for a moment her resolve wavered. She loved him, even still. She could leave him like this, to escape or to starve, knowing he had been bested by her. She could leave and never look back, forget about him until their paths crossed again in the future. The thought of that brought the nausea back, twisting her stomach into knots at the mere idea of it. She would not be weak. Not again.
He couldn’t speak, couldn’t beg with the dagger in his throat, but she took a sick sort of pleasure at the widening of his eyes when he watched her approach with the makeshift wooden stake. His lips trembled as she grew nearer, and now it was she who was drunk on the power. Hesitation would be a mistake at this point, and in a single fluid movement, she plunged the stake deep into his heart, hard enough for it to splinter and crack in her hands.
There was no sound as his body disintegrated, returning to ash once more. She inhaled once, sharply, when it was all over, nearly collapsing in on herself with the force of her sobs. She allowed herself a moment to grieve, to mourn what she had lost once more, surrounded by the mess of their mingled blood and his ashes. She stood after she collected herself, reborn by the experience and hands permanently stained from what she had to do, and silently gathered up the grimoire, returning it to its previous location. Undisturbed. Untouched. As if nothing had happened.
No one would need to know, and Maeve would forget everything about him. The feel of his hands, the taste of his lips. The vibration of his chest against hers as he whispered in her ear, promising her the world. She would forget his face, and she would forget his name.
And she would never, ever, make the same mistake again.
Hello Lovelies! For the month of September, the writing prompt will be on your character’s home! Where do they live? What does their favorite room in the house look like? Do they live in an apartment? A house? A RV? A boat? You can learn so much about your character from the way the way they are at home and how to chose to decorate their space. You do not have to participate in this prompt if you don’t want to. But, if you do chose to participate, please tag your post #shadowprompts.
Have fun with it and keep on writing!
What does the place look like? [Feel free to include pictures]
Where in town do they live? [This can be a made up address, a description, or any way you’d like to explain it ex. On the water, on the outskirts of town, in a culdesac, an apartment complex etc.]
What kind of place is it? [M.A.S.H.? aka Mansion? Apartment? Shack? House? etc.]
How long have they lived there?
Do they have any roommates/live with family? Do they keep a stowaway in their attic?
Do they have any pets?
What is the layout of the place like? How many bedrooms or bathrooms does it have? Does it have a parlor? A living room? A library? A skylight? A hot tub? A ocean view? How big or small are the rooms?
Do they own it or rent it?
Is there any history or rumors surrounding the place? Any ghost stories or famous previous owners?
If there was a fire and they could only save one item in the space, what would they save?
Which room or place in the space is their favorite? And how is it decorated?
What they think their most attractive quality is? She was always complimented on her smile, so she would pick that. She doesn’t think too much about being attractive, just herself.
Their favorite thing to do on Valentine’s day without a date? In the past, Mattie always spent Valentine’s Day with her dad. She saw the day to focus on all love, especially family love, over romantic partners. From a young age, Mattie’s dad would buy her flowers and an over-sized chocolate bar; she never liked fancy chocolate. They would give each other cutesy Valentine’s Cards and spend time together after school. When she was younger, they would go to the movies or out to dinner. After college, they would order dinner and watch movies at home.
How do they feel about romantic comedies? Do they have a favorite? She loves watching romantic movies around Valentine’s Day, but she likes the Hallmark Christmas movies more. There’s something more appealing to her about romance with mild comedy than some of the sillier rom-coms. She loves Pretty in Pink, Working Girl, Groundhog Day, and 16 Candles. She always has to watch them around Valentine’s Day.
Their ideal first date? Going somewhere fun, like bowling, roller skating, mini-golf. She could play Mario Kart all night long and be happy.
What personality traits they find most attractive in others? She prefers someone who is smart, generous, a good sense of humor, and patient. Really anyone who can handle her innocence and constant questions is a keeper.
What physical features they find most attractive in others? She always found the “nerd” characters in movies to be more attractive than the “bad boys”. The simple, humble, intelligent look is more her speed.
Your muse’s first kiss? Her boyfriend, Anthony. It was nothing too exciting for her. They were in college, often busy with school work. She tried kissing him goodbye on the cheek once when he turned and it landed right on his lips. She was so embarrassed she never tried it again. She was thankful he didn’t seem to mind- he found it hilarious how red she turned.
Your muse’s first crush? Their first celebrity crush? In preschool, Mattie had a crush on a boy named Theo, but all the girls did. Mattie’s mom set up play dates regularly with Theo because of this. By the time they reached second grade, another friend swept in and won Theo over. At that point boys had cooties so Mattie didn’t mind one bit.
Your muse’s first romantic partner? Anthony Cohen, a premed student from her college. They were by no means romantic, but he was a boy Mattie was very close to. The title of “boyfriend” came up among friends and family, Mattie rolling with it. She did like Anthony; she would have married him if given the chance. But her mind is too innocent for the relationship.
Why did their last relationship end? She prefers not to think about the truth of how their relationship ended. Anthony is gone and she tries to live on for him.
What is your muse looking for in their next partner? Partners? She’s not looking anytime soon. The wound the last relationship left still feels fresh in her heart. For the past twenty years her father told her she is too young to date, so she feels she is still a baby and should not find a serious relationship despite how old she really is.
Where in town do they live? In a little house off the beaten path facing the woods (not too far from the trails)
What kind of place is it? It’s a house that she is renting
How long have they lived there? 6 months
Do they have any roommates/live with family? Do they keep a stowaway in their attic? Nope. She lives all on her lonesome
Do they have any pets? Not in less you count her
What is the layout of the place like? How many bedrooms or bathrooms does it have? Does it have a parlor? A living room? A library? A skylight? A hot tub? A ocean view? How big or small are the rooms? There is 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 living room, a small kitchen and a little backyard.
Do they own it or rent it? Rent it!
Is there any history or rumors surrounding the place? Any ghost stories or famous previous owners? Nope. The little house is fairly new and there has only been a couple other renters before her. She’s cuban. She doesn’t mess with ghosts and can be superstitious.
If there was a fire and they could only save one item in the space, what would they save? A leather jacket. Lia doesn’t have many items she holds onto, especially not from the past, but the one person who had been kind to her in a time when her world was falling apart gave it to her. And for that, she’d make sure to go back in to get it. ( @mateosanroman )
Which room or place in the space is their favorite? And how is it decorated? The living room. It’s tiny and fairly empty, with limited furniture and a couple boxes she still hasn’t gotten around to unpack (she’s a terrible procrastinator). But, in it, is a splatter paint wall she created during her founder’s day charity date and every time she looks at it, she can’t help but smile. ( @jasminedmorris ).
What do you look like? Andrew stands at 6′0, 171lbs, he is athletically built with brown hair and blue eyes. He likes to keep his hair short, and nicely cut but sometimes he has his lazy messy hair days.
Do you wear glasses? Or have contacts? He does have glasses but he barely wears them as he prefers his contacts.
Do you have any tattoos? None
Do you have any scars or birthmarks? He has a scar on his arm from a fire after rescuing someone. He also has the brand that the Knights of the New Day gave him.
Any physical handicaps or disabilities? None
How do you like to dress? Do you wear make up? Heels or flats? Boxers or Briefs? Boxers and sometimes boxer briefs. He likes wearing jeans and tee shirts, but he can pull off a suit just fine. Honestly he just likes being comfortable in whatever he is wearing. He likes wearing shoes over sandals, and sometimes he will wear army boots but not very often.
Would you consider yourself rich or poor? Middle class.
Do you have a specific tick or mannerism? He runs his hand through his hair a lot whenever he is nervous. Or sometimes he makes hand gestures whenever he is trying to explain something really important. Sometime’s he will rub his stumble if he is thinking deeply about something.

What is your greatest fear? Andrew stared at the paper for a moment, he was scared of this answer because he knew exactly what it was.The Knights finding out about my sister, and taking care of her. So there was no way that he was going to write that down, instead he skipped the question.
What is your biggest pet peeve or trait you deplore in yourself? “Not being good enough. My brother was the better hunter, the better son. And I feel sometimes that I’m not good enough and I can’t live up to what he was. There is a lot more, but that is the biggest.”

What do you consider the most overrated virtue? “Patients everyone always says that is the best virtue.”
On what occasion do you lie? Andy sighed a little bit at the question, he lied everyday about what he did, and what happened to his sister. “Yeah, I do from time to time. Sometimes lying is necessary.”
What is the quality you like most in a significant other? “Being completely faithful. If I’m with someone I’m completely theirs and no one elses. So I expect the same thing.”
Do you have a catchphrase? Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “Oh shit. Does that count as a catchphrase?”
Who or what is the greatest love in your life? Raising a brow slightly, Andrew shrugged a little bit. “No idea. I don’t really have one? At least not yet.”

How do you hope others will see you? “As a good man some day, I guess. Never really thought about it.”
How are you seen by others currently? “I have no idea how other people see me. Some might call me friend, some might call me an asshole. I don’t know what others think.”
How do you see yourself? “I see myself as a guy who is trying to do the right thing despite what I have been trained to do.”
How do you react to praise? “I say thank you.”
How do you react to criticism? “I take it like a normal person but I do not overact with it.”

It’s that time of the month again for the Full Moon! Thanks to your guys’ wonderful feedback, we’ve decided to make the full moon a starter prompt instead of a plot drop or an event. So what does that mean?
It means that starting now until Sunday, August 26th (which is when the full moon actually is) at Midnight EST you can create starters in the starter tag or make private threads related to the special features that come with the full moon. You do not have to participate in the Full Moon starter prompt if you don’t want to, but the Full Moon is a way for any character in the rp to create a fun new starter (especially for the species that have different powers or abilities during the full moon) and we’ll detail how below. Basically, this starter prompt is just a reminder of when the full moon is and is an aid to help you hopefully get starter ideas. Please continue your ongoing threads and reply to existing starters. Even after the #shadowfullmoon starter thread deadline ends, you can still continue your character’s conversations. Just please don’t create any new full moon threads or starters until the next full moon. Also, if you have any questions about this reoccurring prompt feel free to shoot us a message.
*Note: As per any major plot, during a full moon starter, if you want to INJURE your character, KILL an NPC (human or Supernatural), or any other MAJOR plot related occurrence, YOU NEED TO MESSAGE THE MAIN FIRST TO ASK FOR APPROVAL. (You will most likely have your plot approved, but we just need to keep track of which major plots are happening on the dash. That, and we will be posting a recap after the full moon, detailing the major plots that occurred like two characters fighting or a NPC human dying etc. So, we need to know for that reason as well).
So what can you write a starter about for your characters?
In town, people often refer to the full moon as “The Changing”:
During a full moon, there is a town curfew. After 10 pm on a full moon, all humans are expected to stay inside for their own safety. Anyone under the age of 21 is required by law to stay inside, while everyone older than 21 is highly encouraged to. Often organizations will host lock ins at local pubs or churches. Go out at your own risk.
During full moons, for all supernaturals, use of powers after curfew is fair game. As long as no humans are physically killed during the “Changing”, everything else that occurs on the streets (not in sanctioned buildings and houses) is fair game with no punishment by law (including, but no limited to other forms of violence on either side- human and supernatural alike).
For our hunters, now is your chance to hunt throughout town without any consequences by the law.
For our werewolves, your character will be shifting. You don’t have to write a shifting starter if you don’t want to. But, if you want to have your character be forced to turn and be set lose on the town, now is your chance to!
For our witches, now is your chance to create starters and threads with those extra full moon abilities that you gain.
For our vampires & succubus/incubus, your character can have an intense desire to feed during the full moon and an urge to quench their thirst with the others around them.
For our Harpies/Sirens, your characters can have an intense desire to sing. Also, for newer harpies and sirens, they’ll sometimes have difficulty hiding their true form. You’ll often see sirens take to the water and harpies flock to the sky.
While most shops and stores are closed on the full moon:
The Hellmouth will be open for supernaturals to eat at and, abiding to the curfew, won’t allow humans in for the duration of the night. There will also be a strict “no harming others” policy while inside the establishment.
All Saint’s Hospital will stay up and running. If you work at the Hospital, you will most likely be having a shift sometime during the night.
Procaffination Cafe will be having a lock in Movie Night where they play re-runs of all the classics (while the actual movie theater/Level Up! will be closed for the evening seeing that the owner is a declared werewolf).
Flannigan’s will be having a Scottish pub style lock-in. There will be music from a live band for part of the night and people can gather around and drink with the pub owner until the sun comes up.
The Muttropawlitan stays open to help heal hurt werewolves who wander in and in the basement they have an area where werewolves can be locked up during the shift, so that they don’t run lose around town and hurt someone.
Dusk Till Dawn Inn will, also, stay open with their basement working as an area where werewolves can be locked up during the shift, so that they don’t run lose around town and hurt someone. Additionally, they will have discounted rooms for anyone needed a place to escape to during the full moon.
The House of Grace has a lock in where humans can gather around reading hymns, singing psalms and playing an assortment of boardgames. The church pews will be replaced by cots and, there will, also, be a large selection of food provided such as an array of baked goods and pastries from the Pie Hole and little Debbies snack cakes.
Both speakeasy-style clubs, Neverland and Saints & Sinners, take to the streets. Humans who are 21+ party outside, experimenting with drinking, drugs and other narcotics out in the open, while supernaturals parade through the streets doing the same. Free booze is often provided.
Supernaturals lounge freely on Radley’s front and backyards participating in pack meetings and other events.
The Falls are a magical hotspot, so during the full moon, if you character takes a swim, if they’re supernatural, they might find themselves getting a boost a power and, if they’re human, they might find themselves acting a bit tipsy.
*Note: If you are the owner of an establishment and want your establishment to participate in the reoccurring events during a full moon or be open during a full moon feel free to message the main and we will add you to the list!
