Shadowsight loves spending time with his family, especially his little brother Birchkit. He’ll play with him as much as his energy allows and comfort him when he’s scared
I feel like Shadowsight enjoys talking to his patients a lot. He loves hearing about their lives

Shadowsight looked fairly unhealthy during TBC, which is where the “thin and short-furred” description came from because he often looked disheveled, but after the events of TBC he began taking care of himself after his mental health began improving and now he’s really fluffy and chubby
Shadowsight loves looking at the moon and stars and finds comfort in them, he goes out to stargaze a lot
Shadowsight likes to swim
Shadowsight will gift flowers to cats he’s close to, and will often put them in others’ fur if they want him to
He will also help cats with their “accessories”, like flowers or twigs and stuff they find, he’ll help them tuck them behind their ear and such :3

okay this is going to be a long one so i’ll add a cut!!
also though i love to ramble, i am bad at explaining why i like things so just a warning, though i’ll try to be as articulate as possible
i’ll give the most common answer first - he’s a relatable character. especially as someone with autism, i see a lot of autistic traits in him to the point i wrote a whole essay on why i think he has autism. his struggle with being outcasted and seen as this weird monster is also relatable, which is a huge part of what drew me to him in the first place. the sense of feeling dehumanized and ostracized due to some inherent strangeness others seem to sense? relatable. very, unfortunately, relatable.
secondly, he’s been a huge comfort character to me for so long. i was a little scared to go into depth about this one due to a fear of judgement, but like. this is a blog on tumblr dedicated to screaming about shadowsight run by the person who screams in the warrior cats instagram’s comments about shadowsight, so i don’t think anyone comes here for normalcy. but, ever since lost stars was released, he’s been a huge comfort. i was going through a lot of the same things as him around the time it was released - like i said earlier, being constantly ostracized and outcasted in school due to being seen as “weird”. this eventually led to me daydreaming about shadowsight comforting me a lot, to the point it’s pretty much a part of my daily routine. even just looking at pictures of him makes me feel happy and comforted. this has genuinely helped me through tons of difficult situations, imagining having shadowsight there to be my friend and comfort me. it’s like, no matter what changes, shadowsight is always there for me, you know? he’s just a huge comfort.
thirdly, of course, his character arc is just interesting and compelling!! it’s one of the most unique plots in warriors in my opinion, which is why i really don’t get why people compare him to alderheart??? that gripe aside, he’s interesting to read about, i love reading about him, he’s interesting to me. i want to know his thoughts on everything and it genuinely saddens me how we’ll never get to read his pov again!!!!
my fifth reason kind of ties into the comfort character thing - this is one of those things i really only talk to close friends about because some people just don’t get it, but i trust people here enough. his personality makes me so happy. he’s so sweet, selfless, kind and caring, he’s brave despite his anxieties, i just really want him as a friend 😭 like, you ask me which fictional character i would befriend in a heartbeat, i’m picking shadowsight. i feel like he would be very sweet and understanding but also fun and interesting to talk to. i just want to give him a hug so badly….
ofc, another very common reason, is he evokes sympathy from me!! i love a character that i really just want to hug. there’s not much to this reason. i just really want to hug shadowsight. i’ve said this too many times.
also, he just gives me something to look forward to, and a reason to keep being optimistic even if i feel bleak. like, no matter what, the next warriors book will come out and i’ll get to see shadowsight again!! he also stops me from thinking bad thoughts about myself tbh…. if i catch me thinking badly about myself i think “would shadowsight want me to think this?” and stop because i wouldn’t want to make shadowsight sad. would many people say it’s stupid? yes, but it works!!
