green lies, black hearts chapter 43 snippet
“You should have left me to die,” she muttered, staring out the window over King’s Landing, facing not towards Dragonstone but south towards the Stormlands, towards her brother’s unknown grave—wherever he now remained in the waves of Shipbreaker Bay. Shaera needed not see the towers of Storm’s End, nor the tumultuous tempests of the bay to know it was where her eyes led her to. Her heart simply tugged that direction.
Aemond hummed softly in time with the crackling fire. “And what honor in death is that?”
“More than you shall know in life,” she snapped. “Illness takes scores every winter. It is not a sign of dishonor or weakness to succumb. But your cowardice? Your treason?” The words were hot with venom, and Shaera sneered, turning her head ever so slightly over her shoulder. Still, she would not meet his gaze. “You will be a worm writhing in the sunlight soon enough, and there will be not even a whisper of valor, nigh even a whisper of you.”
