The Shagamaw is an odd creature described by the lumberjacks of North America. The Shagamaw is said to be the size of a horse with the back legs of a moose and the front legs of a bear. The Shagamaw was said to walk 440 steps on its front legs leaving bear prints then walk 440 steps on its back legs leaving moose prints making it incredibly difficult to track. The Shagamaw was not dangerous however it was considered a trickster mostly due to the fact that its diet consisted of cloth mostly cotton and it ate the lumberjack’s clothes as they left them out to dry after washing them.
Cryptid of the Day: Shagamaw
Description: The Shagamaw is said to be the size of a horse, with front paws of a bear and has the ability to walk upright. It takes 440 steps bipedal before switching back to all fours, and has a tendency to eat cloths that are hanging out to dry.
The Tote-Road Shagamaw is a fearsome critter from the folklore of North American lumberjacks. It is said to be the size of a horse, with the front paws of a bear and the hind legs of a moose. It will sometimes walk on its back legs, and sometimes on its front paws, to leave two confusing sets of tracks on the ground. Some tales give a specific number - four-hundred-and-forty-four steps on each set of legs.
The Shagamaw is not an aggressive creature, and uses stealth, along with its misleading tracks, to avoid hunters. It does, however, have a taste for cotton and cloth, and will often eat washing left out by people to dry.

The Tote-Road Shagamaw is a Fearsome Critter that is rarely seen outside of Maine. The Shagamaw is typically described as looking scary, but what tends to confuse hunters the most are what footprints are left behind. This Critter has the legs of a bear, with paws in the front but the hooves of a moose on the back legs. It tends to walk upright on its hooves most of the time but can at times use its front paws for support which leads to the sudden change from hooves to paws and back again. It is described as harmless and usually eats things left behind by hunters or others, such as mittens, boots, and other materials.
A couple of the sketches I've done for mythic may thus far. There's one more from the first day but I haven't gotten it onto this computer yet. The left one is from today and was actually what I was streaming earlier and combines both day 3 (Palden Lhamo) and 4 (Wyvern). On the right we have my entry for day two the Shagamaw.
A bit dumb, but I tried, so I’m posting.
A hockey team logo for our fictional monsterverse. The shagamaw is a cryptid that looks cool but is very much... not.
It is said that it would walk 440 steps on its front legs and then walk on its back legs for another 440 steps, or around half a mile both ways. This made it very difficult to hunt down and it became a creature of great stealth. It had a hunger for cloth, especially cotton, and would eat the washing left out by local people.
So, like. A big dumb bearmoose that eats socks.
