xiaokoo, juniper, has actually deactivated her account and left tumblr. it happened all the way back in september of 2021, she had been getting all these meaningless hate asks from anons for a while. they had a range of awful things to say about her writing, to the point where they drove her off the site with their careless comments hidden behind the mask of anonymity. how very cowardly and shameful of them :(
people can be horribly brutal and heartless. i don’t understand why they’d do this to someone so sweet and giving, someone that was basically writing all those amazing stories for free, man :( it’s just sad.

Good morning! I'm hesitant to say I'm back "for good" because I haven't really figured out what to do here yet. It looks like many accounts left and the ones who are still around who I knew from years being here aren't interacting beyond talking about their fic updates. That's pretty much what I expected, but it puts me in a pickle because I don't have a fic to give right now.
I'm writing for NaNo, but only on a couple fics I've promised to close friends because I'm weighing my options about where and how to participate now. At present, I'm considering writing for non-k-pop fandoms or focusing my efforts on original works I can share at any time, even in my 30s, 40s, or 50s. I'll put out a few updates here for k-pop stuff in the next few months, but how often I'm online here depends on interactions from you guys.
Placing a cut for the rest as I vent about the U.S. and what it's like living here:
I don't know which country you're from, but the United States is a complicated and expensive place to live. Your experience, safety, and support is almost exclusively determined by which region you're in, how much wealth you have, and whether your neighbors accept you as a person well enough to help you if you're in trouble. I've always supported immigration and still do, but I don't recommend immigrating here unless you already have a network of friends and family to back you up financially and protect you *or* you have a stellar job offer with high enough pay to secure yourself and your home. Without that, you'll suffer for many years trying to buy food and basic needs.
Places with lower cost of living are high-risk on the safety front especially if you're not white, not Christian, and not heterosexual. I've lived in those types of places for nearly my whole life and it's more extreme now in multiple states. Civil rights continue to be on the chopping block under the guise of "protecting kids" which is infuriating to me, someone who is not even allowed to adopt an LGBTQ+ kid and give them a home because I'm LGBTQ+. I still see multiple attempts to make sweeping changes to voting laws to "protect our way of life and our values" which often means keeping the institutions very white and very Christian. As a historian who studied extremism and centuries of "Christian" institutions in Europe for many years, the alarm bells are absolutely going off for me and I've spent years now trying to warn people to take this shit seriously, only for them to strip the social studies curriculum in schools.
