 ‘  yeah ,  yeah ,  good  job , ‘ emery spoke to his little sister , placing a quick kiss on the top of her head before he bent down to grab her book bag , slinging it over her shoulder . ‘  lets  get  the  fuck  out  of  here . ‘ he paused for a moment , glancing around at the other parents who were there to pick up their kids . ‘  yeah , sorry  . ‘ he shrugged his shoulders before moving off , watching as deb ran ahead of him . walking had never exactly been an issue for the rabbits . with only one car between them , it was usually first come first serve .

“No, no, I told you if you called off again, that was it.” Archibald considered showing leniency and when it came to this particular employee, he had on multiple occasions proved he could be a benevolent boss who believed in second chances, but when someone took his rare kindness and abused it, well...most found the niceties disappear pretty damn quickly. No one has ever claimed they saw his temper and it was a side of him that he knew wasn’t pretty. Though, blowing up in front of potential buyers was something he wished to avoid in any circumstance. “Enough excuses. I said, enough.” Archie ended the call and slid the phone back in the pocket of his dress pants, taking one glance at the person sitting next to him at the bar’s counter. “Apologies. I truly hate being that guy, you know the one rudely having a loud phone conversation in a public place.” He engaged in a brief pause to order a beer before continuing, “But business to run and all.”

If there ever was a word to describe Alec, it was reckless. He used his flirtations to his advantage and perhaps slithered his way from facing consequences, but he wasn’t foolish to believe that would ever last forever. Jumping between the few odd jobs, it was rare for him to find a job he liked, but he genuinely enjoyed being a bartender. He was fantastic at it, the drinks were easy to make, the pay was substantial enough, and more than a few customers warmed his bed at the end of his shifts. It was a win-win. However, nights like tonight proved the man didn’t always follow the rules. After serving what seemed to be the tenth margarita that evening, Alec ventured over to the area shelving the harder liquors, pouring a dash of gin within a shot glass and tipping it into his mouth. It wasn’t technically his first choice, but dipping into the supply was a nasty habit. A small cough fled his lips as he turned around, just then realizing someone bore witness to his more...indulgent side. “Shh. You didn’t see that.”

“Cal, an hour lunch break means an hour, not fifteen minutes.” Lydia threw the comment at her boss as she passed him before grabbing her small apron and moving from behind the long counter that extended a majority of the diner’s length, wrapping the ties around her waist. She would have swallowed down all irritation being called in early during the rare breaks she received, it wasn’t as if they were at a shortage of waitresses, but the owner somehow had it in his head that she was the most capable to handle the dreaded lunch rush. Lydia had years of experience under her belt, that was true and she was never one to make complaints, but her aching feet were a killer. Still, the woman splashed on a smile as she approached the table, pulling the pad of paper from her pocket and holding a pen at the ready, “Hi, sorry for your wait. Hopping place.” All things considered compared to other businesses, the diner was doing well for itself. Made the days exhaustively quick, but the chances customers stiffed on the tip she lived off of easily increased, “What can I get you?”

 ‘ it’s  been  great ,  really ,  but  i  am  calling  it  a  night . ‘ quin didn’t plan to come into the bar that night but when one of his bartenders called out , he figured he would stop by to at least help out but it was about an hour until closing and the crowd had managed to thin out enough that he figured he wasn’t exactly needed . ‘  try  not  to  burn  the  bar  down  in  my  absence , ‘ quin taunted as he moved to shrug his jacket on .

     '  𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒉 ,  𝒊  𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘  𝒊'𝒎  𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈  𝒇𝒐𝒓  𝒕𝒊𝒑𝒔  𝒃𝒖𝒕  ... 𝒏𝒐 . ' everyone had their limits and kieran had theirs especially when they were behind the beer . sure , they may have tried to be polite and sweet but even they had to put their foot down every now and again especially when it came to someone who felt a little too entitled . ‘  cut  off  is  cut  off . ‘ kieran turned away , rolling their eyes as they moved down the bar , passing a beer to another customer .

  𝒃𝒐𝒐 𝒔𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒘𝒐 . if one of the kids wasn’t trying to take the bat to school then one of them was trying to take something else . some days , boo managed to catch them but other days ? not so much . luckily , she had noticed one of the younger ones trying to take the bat they kept near the door . she sighed , putting the bat back as she pulled open the door , following them out at least to the yard . ‘ please , for  the  love  of  god  ,  be  good , ‘ she called out as they moved from the property and down the street to catch the bus . boo ran a hand down her face , mumbling under her breath before dropping her hand . ‘  what  a  morning . ‘
