“You would not believe the day I have had,” the excitement in Clíona’s voice is only matched by the bright grin on her face. She’d been going since early this morning, looking around the festival and joining in on any remotely athletic competition she could. And now, she was standing beside Sonya at the parade, watching as celebrations filled the streets.
“I think I almost threw out my shoulder on one of those...jet skis? It was quite the rush. I did not realize how painful ‘wiping out’ could be.” As she speaks, she hands a bottle of water to the other woman. It may have been a celebration, but the heat was just as present, and it would sap the life from anyone who didn’t stay hydrated, “And then I participated in that...volleyed ball game,” she laughs heartily and shakes her head, “Do you think sand has any health benefits if you ingest it? If so, I may have eaten enough for a lifetime.”
Despite this, she’s beaming, and seems to have just as much energy as when she woke up. “How about yourself, any interesting stories so far?” They decided to meet up for the parade, but there was a semi-unspoken understanding that the evening could drag on long past that. Clíona was just having a great time, and if Sonya happened to be with her for part of it, that meant she would have company. Celebrating alone was well and good, but having someone around was just as nice.
