HC: Merc groups have their own secret codes that is a combination of spoken words and a little hand gesture, for example, 'rabbit' with a gesture means enemy, but with different gesture will mean bystander or such and so on. Shamir, Byleth and Jeralt had a lot of fun trading info or do a short chat with it and everyone not merc be none the wiser. People who overheard them talking will sometimes be confused by the random topic of their conversation. (not sure where I'm going with this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

I've always wondered if Shamir came across Byleth before Garreg Mach. Because in chapter 2 I think? She says "Have we met?" Byleth looked familiar to her. I initially thought it was cause Byleth looked like Jeralt so she may have come across Jeralt in the past but then I stopped like wait Byleth looks nothing like Jeralt they look more like their mom. Did Shamir come across Byleths mom then?? Or I'm just overthinking xD

Nah, it's not about her mother. Shamir didn't come to Fódlan until a few years ago and she's only a little over 20 by the time of the game so she would've missed Byleth's mother. Also, Cyril muses to himself that Byleth looks familiar as well. It's probably supposed to foreshadow Byleth's connection to Rhea. The coloring is completely different but they look similar so a trained assassin like Shamir and someone as fixated on Rhea as Cyril would notice the similarities but might not be able to pinpoint what it is

meanwhile Shamir over to the side teaching babyleths the 435 ways to kill someone with archery equipment when locked in close combat

The daughter is absolutely ecstatic and taking notes and just beaming the whole time while her brother tries to excuse himself like "I'm actually more of a sword guy myself" but his sister is absolutely not letting him leave

Later she grins at him and says "now you know what I'll do if you ever piss me off" and he throws a training sword at her head

When it comes to badass quotes from Three Houses, everyone always talks about Byleth's "Here is something to believe in" but y'know the line I adore? Shamir's "Sleep in the dirt." Just... All of Shamir's lines are so badass. I love her so much.

Some a-holes tried to bother Shamir with their hollier-than-thou attitudes, stuff like Shamir is just a dirty merc, lowly commoner that should know her place, should be honored to be in the monastery and she should give them respect. Shamir kept her cool, they could spout BS all they want, but she WILL retaliate if it goes too far. Suddenly, someone came between them and the ground exploded, when the dust receded it revealed an angry Catherine with Thunderbrand glowing in her hand. What next?

Well some jerks go flying, Catherine gets scolded - lightly - and then they go off for a drink, Shamir strangely happy and Catherine trotting after her like a happy puppy

Speaking of Cyril I found it strange that he got no unique interaction fighting Shamir in the CF final battle in Firdiad. Catherine did, but not Cyril. They were introduced together and they got nothing? Where was the angst??

It's probably because their relationship is still relatively fresh when they are introduced and they aren't particularly close yet while Shamir and Cat have been partners for several years now
