Lately as this year draws to a close, I’ve been thinking about all the things I could’ve contributed to my favourite fandoms if I’d just had the confidence in myself earlier on. Top of my list was always trying to share my own ideas of what Gannen and Vancha were like before they were blooded; what made them join the vampaneze in the first place; and how their three centuries of separation happened, given that Vancha says they were always so close. And how horrible that must have been for them both 😫

Currently I’m still fleshing out the story into something I can work with, but I’m aiming to make it a fairly regular thing. I’m using the DSS (books and manga) as a starting point, but will be filling in the gaps with a lot of my own headcanon as we don’t get a ton of clues from the Saga itself. Also I’ve not read the Larten Crepsley series and don’t really intend to, so if anything I come up with contradicts it, that’ll be why.

Anyway - enjoy this little Shanta gift in the meantime! My very sketchy concepts of Gannen and Vancha from their first year together as assistants… to their last.
