I’m a sucker for the fics where Ilya gets mauried(whether he is or isn’t the father, idc Im just here for the angst) but almost all of them have Shane instantly stepping into not-the-dad but-the-dad-who-stepped-up mode which is just so not how I see him, thank you for vindicating me and my possessive jealous toxic Shane agenda <3

yes shane is a fucking control freak he can’t even have a glass of wine at lunch without planning it ahead for three weeks he would be literally tearing at his skin off at the idea of something like a child he didn’t want being introduced into his and ilyas life
(also i think it would very much feed into feelings of inadequacy in terms of women being able to give ilya something he cant, obviously incredibly explored by @creamsiclemelt in hr heritage fic one of your girls)
i also do believe that shane and ilya’s relationship will develop to the point where shane is very open with ilya and so writing him quite dramatic felt right to me, i think he can eventually be honest and fully himself with ilya (especially in a difficult situation where neither of them are at fault) so he would let ilya inside of his panicking
like girl look how dramatic he was being at the cottage after david reacts to him copping a feel
hes a star athlete who gets everything he wants in the end, his whole life has very much revolved around himself, i think he would be fiercely protective of that life and ilya within it and be kind of a bitch about it! but crucially only to the peoples he’s closest with, in public of course he would still be a perfect pr machine
