⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ShangPalace #ShangriLaBosphorus #MyShangriLa #bestrestaurants #besthotels #tasting #dinnertime #chinese #chinesefood #foodstagram #foodie #foodblogger #foodwriter #beşiktaş #istanbul (at Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEHYks6hAz-/?igshid=dalwcyix5bpr
The suckling pig is perfectly crunchy and fatty, but what stood out even more is its Bo Luo Bao partner. That crust texture is rich and buttery, and with a satisfying crunch opens up to a dreamy chicken filling made creamy with foie gras. Whenever I get a big craving for hakao and dimsum, one of the most reliable places to satisfy my hungry tummy is Shang Palace in Makati Shangri-La, Manila. Their authentic Cantonese offerings never disappoint, whether it be for a light afternoon snack or a filling lunch affair. While the ala carte menu may be a bit pricey, there’s one option that always gives great value for money, especially for big eaters like me. So it’s time again to visit Shang Palace to avail of their Dimsum Plus.
The Dimsum Plus promotion is an all-you-can-eat affair for only P1,094 nett per person that includes not just dimsum, but also appetizers, soup, noodles, rice and one main course per pseron. It is available for lunch from Monday to Saturday from 11.30am to 2:30pm and I can even use my Golden Circle rewards points to pay for this. While other hotels in the city also offer similar dimsum buffets, Shang Palace continues to be one of my favorite options with its authentic and high quality Chinese cuisine.
Shang Palace is the signature Cantonese restaurant of Makati Shangri-La Hotel located on the second floor. The restaurant has always been a charming venue for family reunions and special celebrations since 1993. The grand chandeliers and intricate setup inside Shang Palace makes it an ideal spot for elegant conversations and exquisite dining.
Guests can have an many orders they want of the items listed on the special Dimsum Plus menu. What’s great about this menu is that it includes many other dishes aside from just the regular dimsum. Each guest also has a choice of one main course that they can order.
But before the festivities begin, treat yourselves to their complimentary kropek and marinated tofu appetizers which are also unlimited. I really liked the tofu with its flavorful spices that will jumpstart your palates.
We ordered some of the appetizers on the menu like the Honey-Glazed Barbecue Pork, Jelly Fish and Soy Egg. The items were beautifully presented in one plate.
Guests can also start with a soup dish like the Sichuan-style Hot and Sour Soup which is always a popular choice. The spicy broth is masterfully done with authentic Cantonese flavors.
My favorite item at any dimsum menu is the Steamed Crystal Skin Shrimp Dumplings, more commonly known as Hakao. Shang Palace has one of the biggest servings of hakao with its juicy and plump shrimp covered by a silky smooth dumpling wrapper. These are definitely more than a mouthful but I still ordered two baskets just for myself.
There are many other dimsum items available like the Steamed Beef Balls and the Shanghai “Xiao Long Bao”. The xiao long bao was a little thin and dry compared to others I have tried but I still enjoyed sipping the warm and flavorful broth inside.
If you like eating vegetables then order the Spinach Dumplings Stuffed with Shrimps for a healthier dimsum combination.
Fried dimsum items include the Pan Fried Turnip Cake with XO Sauce which is similar to a fried raddish cake but with more powerful notes from the XO sauce. Another recommended item is the Deep Fried Taro Puffs with Diced Scallops for its crunchy bites.
The Steamed Barbecued Pork Rice Rolls is also a colorful choice with asado pork bits wrapped inside rice rolls and doused with light soy sauce. It’s actually quite filling so we were getting full even before the main courses arrived.
Each guest can order one main course from the menu and I ordered the Hot Prawn Salad for myself. This is always one of my favorites whenever I dine at a Chinese restaurant.
We also ordered some of the other main courses like the Sautéed Scallops with Asparagus in XO Sauce and the Deep Fried Lapu-Lapu Fillet with Sweet Corn Sauce. The main course servings are not that big so it was easy to finish off all our orders.
For dessert, you can’t go wrong with their Almond Soya Jelly with Lychee and the Chilled Mango Purée with Sago and Diced Mango for a cool and refreshing ending. These were so good that we each asked for another bowl. The Dimsum Plus promotion is a sure way to get a delicious and satisfying Cantonese dining experience without having to pay too much. I’m glad that this promotion is here to stay so I can always have my dimsum fix whenever I get these hakao cravings.
Feast for both the eyes and taste buds, #ShangriLaSG #ShangPalace Executive Chinese Chef Mok showcases an astounding match: crunchy with a perfect bite, glistening and crispy suckling pig with preserved beancurd, and a buttery rich Bo Luo Bao—petite, but packs a satisfying (and quite audible) crunch to reveal inner goodness of foie gras and chicken. #CNY2019 . . . . . #nothingisordinary #myfab5 #f52grams #dailyfoodfeed #lovefood #eatingfortheinsta #flatlay #spoonfeed #huffposttaste #infatuation #buzzfeast #feedyoursoull #cheatmeal #tastingtable #forkyeah #heresmyfood #eater #eattheworld #foodblogfeed #singaporean #sgvsco #gf_singapore #yoursingapore #thisissingapore #sonyalpha #MediaTasting #FindNewFood (at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsiOGKWBNn3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rciwl9ffthlw
