20201203
Since June, I've been receiving kudos every day for my stories in ao3 and since October I've been waiting for the emails to stop coming.
I'm here to say it stopped today.
I don't even feel bad.
To receive a kudos every single day for 5 months has been one of the highlights of my year.
To everyone who've read and loved and kudos-ed and commented, I just want to say thank you for making this girl's 2020 <3
For some reasons, I always find it annoying when a fanfic I've been reading suddenly blindsides me and that surprise, surprise, there's actually romance in the story.
There's no warning, no proper build up (or you know, I just don't notice it), and, well, I sometimes end up disappointed.
Like when I read romance, that's what I gear myself up for. Romance. I know what to expect, I know what to look for, I know to root for people. When it's slowburn, I know when I want to throttle an author. But when I enter a fic and see there's no tags for romance, then I enter knowing that there's no love story waiting for me. Which is why I hate it when stories blindside me.
Oh. But that's really up to the author, I know. They're not superbly obligated to tell readers about things like that, especially when it's not a trigger warning. So I'm not really taking it against them.
It's just, I hate being surprised like that. And often, it's not even an "I KNEW IT"moment. It's more of "...what?"
So yeah.
