I recently watched a prank video where one of the people getting pranked name was Shaquayla. The comments were filled with "what kinda ghetto ass name...", "why y'all women keep giving y'all children these names", "her ghetto ass name". But I ask you...why IS Shaquayla a ghetto name and what is it being compared to that makes it ghetto. Oh yeah...Amanda...Neil...Hayden...Clarissa....Ryan.... But even still why isn't Hayden the weird name like its horse food and a room put together right? Is it because white people decided that the "unique" names they come up with are acceptable because well...they came up with it and our unique names are "ghetto" because well aren't black people ghetto anyways.(because remember to white people ghetto is a synonym for black) We'll I say there's nothing wrong with naming your children tyrone, dayquan, and shaquayla just like it isn't wrong to name your children Muhammad etc. Stop going by the rules of white society and then wondering why white society doesn't accept us unless we're watered down blacks. We don't even accept ourselves in our pure form.
