Growing up with a name that is "ghetto" made me me feel insecure. Imagine being in a class with kid's that had name's like John, Amy or Jennifer and you felt like an outcast because you don't feel like your name is "normal". Overtime I started to like & then love my name, like me it's unique and beautiful. After hearing what Raven-Symoné had to say about hiring girl's with a certain type of name (Ghetto name to be exact) i was more than offended, because it gives society more to criticize & place judgement towards someone based on their name. When someone hears a girl's name and it's for example Tyronia, they automatically think that it's a girl that lives in the projects, has three kids and has long nails, not only is it wrong, but it's ignorant. So many girl's have names that are beautiful, unique and different... It doesn't mean they should be characterized as "ghetto" or "ratchet" without you even knowing, they could be educated and hard working, but wait you wouldn't know that because you can't get over the fact that her name is "different" or not "normal" to you. So to Raven, Growing up I've been a big fan of yours, but after hearing what you had to say not only am I offended, but disappointed that a beautiful Black woman like you would even say that with all that Society has to say already & knowing that you have young fans that look up to you with beautiful and unique names that may have been hurt by your comments. Before you judge someone based on their name Raven, maybe try to get to know them first... I hear girl's that are named Shaniquao are very smart, well educated, hard working & of course beautiful ☺️😉😊. That's all I gotta say! Peace & Love always - Shaniquao 😘✌️
