President Ahmed al-Sharaa received a lengthy phone call from President Donald Trump. During the call, they discussed developments in the transitional phase in Syria and the efforts being made to promote security and stability, in addition to prospects for bilateral cooperation to serve regional and international stability. The President affirmed Syria's full commitment to the unity of its territory and national sovereignty. He stressed the state’s keenness to preserve its institutions and promote civil peace, emphasizing the importance of unifying international efforts to prevent the return of terrorist organizations, led by the "ISIS" organization. The President also emphasized that the "New Syria" is adopting a policy of openness and extending its hand for cooperation with all international parties based on mutual interest and respect. He agreed with the American President on the need for the language of dialogue to prevail in resolving regional conflicts. President al-Sharaa stressed that "active diplomacy" is the only way to overcome chronic crises in the region. For his part, President Trump affirmed his country's support for the aspirations of the Syrian people in building a unified and strong state. He welcomed the ceasefire agreement, considering it a pivotal step toward ending the conflict. He also praised the understandings regarding the integration of military forces, including the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), within the official state institutions.
