Should DJs Share Their Music?
The prime era to be a record label owner was then it was just limited to records. I’m talking about plain Jane vinyl records with grooves and dips nestled between plastic valleys. I mean, if you wanted a song bad enough – simply find a store that had the record was your first task. There was no easy way to search for a record other than to dig for it. A big plus for both music store owners and the labels themselves was that the vinyl record could not be copied in any reasonable way – you had to buy a record if you wanted a copy of it. Now we have the luxury of skipping the trip outside your home altogether. Music is so abundant that a DJ could have a playlist of songs that no other DJ has. So now, the issue of copying music isn’t has big as the issue of sharing playlists is. DJs work hard to organize playlist and transitions – so having another DJ trainspot your technique really derides the art of DJing as a whole. Serato even has anti spotting features that hide your song selection from looking bystanders. Should DJs Share their music? My answer in this day and age, is a resounding No. http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2012/12/should-djs-share-their-music/
