repair. being confined to bed due to injury or illness and hating every second of it. :3c
\\You guys REALLY want that LBR chapter don’t you?!//
This was the second time I found myself stuck in a bed wondering when I could get out and do things again. The worst part was, I didn’t even know where most of my stuff went. All I really had was what was in my bag, and that was just because Foulques, bless him, had the foresight to grab the thing for me. Honestly, it was a bit embarrassing- you’d think by now I’d know to expect trouble from pretty much anywhere what with living on the road or in some form of peril for most of my life- and here I was, like a sodding idiot, forgetting to leave my bag with someone. Or at the very least, with Chocobell.
But yes, back to the current predicament. I was in Camp Dragonhead with a bandage around my head and prohibited from doing anything that would take me outside the building. Or anything that might go near my head. Or really...okay, anything. I tried to keep myself occupied with goldsmithing and reading and weaving, but see, there’s one problem- I need light to see that and at the present moment any form of light bright enough to let me do anything meaningful was also enough to give me a near splitting headache. Lovely. And I couldn’t just ask someone to stay here and entertain me all day, that’d be rude. And kind of spoiled. And more entitled than I would ever feel in my entire life.
So in not so many words, I was bored. I couldn’t even while the time away sleeping since someone would come wake me up every few hours to check if I was still capable of being conscious.
If I ever see those swiving louts that did this to me, they will wish I died back there.
“Careful there, Mingxia. I am starting to think you spend too much time with me. While I would be concerned, this is far too amusing.” Foulques seemed to materialize out of the shadows- how in the seven hells does he manage to do that every single time?! And on another note why does this still startle me?
“Pfft, glad you’re having fun. Wouldn’t you say this is my right though? Since it was my watermelon they were trying to crack open. I do hope I didn’t get any lasting brain damage.”
“I doubt you have permanent damage to anything important. The chirurgeons here have made certain of it,” he remarked. “Your purple friend was very insistent- then again, I suppose having the ear and the heartstrings of the lord in chief here would be conducive to that.”
“What, are you jealous?” He made it so easy, honestly.
“Me? Certainly not. Lords and bureaucrats have never been to my taste.” Foulques scoffed.
Raven came up- and by came up, I mean she charged in. “Ming are you- oh good, you’re awake! I’m going to kill whoever did this to you!”
“First off, one of them is quite dead, thanks to the Flame General. The second thing- get in line, Serella and I get first dibs.” I pointed at the head wrapping.
“And behind me,” Foulques added. “I was her getaway cart.”
“Agh, fine, just save some for me too, will you?” Raven pouted.
“Of course. There’s more than enough of those blue-coated cravens to go around, you know?” I shrugged. “Half an army’s worth at least.”
“...You two are starting to sound like each other.” Raven remarked.
We could only grin and laugh at that.
Okay, so if my friends were all there, maybe convalescing wouldn’t be so bad.
