What my recent Sharesave maturity was spent on

So I had £1286.52 come in after selling costs. I’d been mulling over ideas for a few days, and decided I wanted to go with a stocks & shares isa (my first!), a mortgage overpayment, pay off one of my credit cards, and start an emergency funds account.

As things turned out, however, the stocks and shares isa I opened wanted a minimum of £1000 as a lump sum, not the £500 I was thinking of. And I found this out after I’d made the mortgage overpayment, and paid off the credit card. So this put the kibosh on the emergency funds account.

So here is the final breakdown:

S&S Isa: £1000

Mortgage Overpayment: £120

Credit Card: £248.43

This puts me over the £1286.52 by £81.91. So the £81.91 shortfall is from this month’s employer income.

Just sold some Sharesave holdings

The share price has finally gone up enough since maturity that I’m happy to pull the plug on a particular holding. This is the highest it’s been since this holding matured (approx. three and a half months ago), and since the quarterly results are due in approx. a week, I don’t want to hang around any longer in case the sp drops, depending on the results. I mean it could go up over the next few days, but I’m nervous that the closer we get to the results, it could start to go down again. I’ve still got plenty of skin in the game, with another holding due to mature later this year, and plenty more due to mature in future years, so if there are any rises (especially after the results announcement), my future maturing holdings should be able to take advantage. Hopefully. Now I just need to decide where I’m placing these matured funds for the future.
