With #sharkweek2022 coming up, here is great memory from my #sharkweek adventure of a lifetime while filming the series #SharkAcademy. Look for reruns on @discovery or @discoveryplus! . This was during a bull shark work up. We discovered this big girl was pregnant after doing an ultrasound. We took a fin sample, tissue sample, and a blood sample. Any kind of structure is likely to be a congregating spot for sea life. Where there are healthy ecosystems, there are sharks! . . Seen here, SS Sapona was a concrete-hulled cargo steamer that ran aground near Bimini during a hurricane in 1926. The wreck of the ship is easily visible above the water, and is both a navigational landmark for boaters and a popular dive site. . . 🦈 Shark Week has kicked off! Catch me and my fellow #SharkAcademy recruits getting a crash course in the 🌎 of 🦈 while living on a ⛴ in the Bahamas for six weeks...an understatement to say that it wasn’t easy, but I can’t imagine anything more rewarding. . . Thanks to @thelifeofrileynz and his awesome team, @andremusgrove @kokocuvier and @mattsmukall, for all their knowledge and leadership. The first 3 episodes of 6 are live on @discoveryplus! 🦈 Comment with a “🦈” if you are loving the series so far. . . This a shot while working on free diving skills with expert @andremusgrove. Free diving was a major challenge for me, but it got just a tiny bit easier each dive. I feel like I constantly had a mask half filled with water. Facial hair doesn’t help with a secure mask.
