I have read Thirteen Storeys and I LOVE IT! It's the only book I managed to read from start to finish this year. There's so many things I love about it:
- the way it is structured and how every story connects with the others
- all the different perspectives, the way they all feel so real and how some of them are so relatable
- the extremely explicit anti-capitalistic message. like it's not subtle AT ALL (GO OFF KING)!
- the amount of queer characters, how they just exist and are casually confirmed to be queer :') I like that a lot about jonny's writing in general
- THE ENDING OHMYGODDDD! LIKE. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK LITERALLY TELLS YOU HOW THE STORY WILL END AND STILL!! it managed to surprise me (in a good way)!
all the stories within the book are beautifully crafted, some of them are very tragic and some are absolutely horrifying. the horror and the tragedy are very much inspired by the real world.
the last chapter is so intense lmao I couldn't take my eyes away from the book until I finished it
also I feel like I should congratulate jonny for finally creating a villain that no one would ever lust for. it's an amazing accomplishment for him I believe jdjdjskjksjdnnfndncndjdfyks
