Got roped in
Over the last couple of weeks as I was getting inspiration from Pinterest for various crafts and projects, I kept seeing this video ad for a 'magic embroidery pen'. If you already know what I'm about to say, don't bother; I have learned since receiving it today that the ease and speed which the ad showed using the embroidery pen to make smooth, delightful Sleek embroidery was actually a great big lie. I ordered one (and in all of its ads it looked like this) for $30 CAD:
What I received barely resembled that and instead looked like this:
That was the sum total of everything inside the package when I opened it. It was a bubble wrap envelope with no instructions just my name and address on the front. So thinking that this was a magic embroidery device still, I went on YouTube to see how to thread it and use it because as I said there are no instructions. But I found out this is a punch needle set which makes very different embroidery from what was shown in all the ads that I've ever seen and was not at all what I wanted. The needles involved with this are what look like piercing needles with an extra hole. They are just as sharp as piercing needles as well, which leads me to believe that I'm going to cut open my fabric if I try to use this.
I'm still going to attempt to use it for embroidery, maybe just not the big fat needles. But first I'll have to file down all of the very sharp edges so that I don't slice open my fingers or my fabric. Internet scam number three, lesson learned.
The embroidery that is achieved with this type of needle is actually like this, it resembles a fuzzy little carpet on your fabric. So this is what you're looking for, then by all means have at it
