17. What was Chuuya’s favorite toy as a child? Chuuya’s favorite toy was a brown teddy bear. He’d found it not long after the accident that led to his escape from the facility. It had been discarded near an alleyway, and Chuuya, knowing only hunger and coldness and hardness until then, held onto it as his only comfort. It was eventually lost when he was forced to leave the Sheep. Dazai’s fluffy brown hair reminds him of that bear.
19. What is Chuuya’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for him before? Oh, his biggest relationship flaw is clearly too much trust. It has burned him over and over. Because of the cold world he was born alone into, he’s quick to accept the offer of warmth and friendship from others. The Sheep burned him over this, and Dazai, when he betrayed the Mafia, burned him (and blew up his car). Dazai had been his partner in the Mafia, in every sense of the word. Chuuya still cares deeply for him, even though he proclaims his hate at every opportunity.
20. In what way does Chuuya compare himself to others? Does he do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism? Chuuya has a bit of an ego – he’s self-confident, and because of his physical and Ability power level, knows that there’s not much that can stand up to him. Evaluating others with respect to his power feeds his ego.
However, he self-critical in two ways: his worth as a human, and attacks on his intelligence. Being a government experiment, and being so far removed from the rest of normal humanity as an Ability user sometimes casts doubt on his own humanity. And he hates being compared to Dazai – that man has a genius level of intelligence when it comes to manipulation and planning, and while Chuuya can follow Dazai’s plans better than anybody, he still falls into traps and Dazai can easily best him without even having a combative Ability. It’s so bad that the genius detective Ranpo was able to use it against Chuuya to trap him.
21. If something tragic or negative happens to Chuuya, does he believe he may have caused or deserved it, or is he quick to blame others? Depends on the situation: for the Sheep’s betrayal, Chuuya blamed himself as a poor leader, for the downfall of the Sheep – he was the thing wrong with the organization, he was at fault for the Sheep betraying him. For Dazai’s betrayal, he definitely blames Dazai. Essentially, if he perceives a situation could have been avoided by taking different actions, he’s likely to blame himself. When Dazai is involved though…always blame Dazai XD
22. What does Chuuya like in other people? He likes loyalty. He likes fun, engaging, interesting people, people who can keep him a little off guard and surprise him.
23. What does Chuuya dislike in other people? He dislikes manipulation, dislikes people who aren’t genuine. He dislikes when people hide behind masks.
24. How quick is Chuuya to trust someone else? Probably a bit too quick. He’ll trust anyone in the Mafia, and although it might take him a bit of time to warm up to ‘co-workers’ from other organizations, once people prove themselves or behave openly, he’ll let down his guard. He’s certainly quick to aid civilians who need help (has helped old grandmas across the street – this was Dazai in disguise XD). He’ll certainly start to drop his guard if he likes someone.
Of course, with his power level and combat training, he also believes that he can handle any kind of threat if it pops up unexpectedly…
