The broth was spicier than anything she’d had in the forest, but it never reached an unpleasant degree and it warmed her thoroughly after the creeping cold of space.

Around them, a myriad of people hurried around the busy spaceport, ducking in and out of colorful storefronts to avoid the steady downpour. Deprived of her sun and soil, Tess was more susceptible to the cold and damp than usual, and when she’d said as much to her companion, Epherion had steered her into the closest food stand.

Feeling a bit more invigorated after the hearty mouthful, Tess sniffled and added, “This stop have anything to do with the uh... fond farewell we got from the last waystation? Seemed like you had a bit of a disagreement.”
