Spent the week on the street with @shawnax in PDX making a mural for Forest For The Trees. We got incredibly lucky to have a spot under tree cover and on the wall of the celebrated restaurant Nostrana. Go check it out at 1401 Morrison

“CYCLES OF”
by Shawna X
New York designer and artist Shawna X was back home in Portland over the summer painting this piece on SE 14th Ave at Alder St on the side of locally sourced Italian restaurant Nostrana. Working across a variety of media, and also an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design, her work reflects her interest in vibrant color and evoking “energy, seduction, and morbid curiosity” through composition and juxtaposition of shapes. Shawna X reports that for this wall she spent a week “eating paint, spilling paint, and ruining two pairs of shoes and gym shorts with paint.” Created for the annual Forest for the Trees festival, this piece “is a nod to the cycle in creative process—the dive into a rut/depression and a rise again to inspiration.” @shawnax @ffttnw @nostranapdx

Like many things in life, This used to be the center piece, but now its just in the backyard fading away. #shawnax (at A/D/O)
